From bottle. Nice red-brown color. Strong aroma of hops and malts. Flavor is quite hoppy with nice bitter tones. Aftertaste is powerful and bitter. In next morning I feel this taste also. Great.

Pours a dark amber color with a medium white head. Aroma is sweet and malty... notably sugar and caramel. Taste is great and similarly malty, but with a slight hop bitterness as well. 1 0.9 oz. bottle.

Drinking it as I write. Pours darker than expected: a wonderful deep russet, with a thin yet resilient milky head. Fruit and spice aroma, subtle caramel notes. Finishes with just enough bitterness. Great balance throughout.

Bottle. Very nice dark honey red, poured with a surprising hefty head, three fingers. Very well carbonated for a bottle conditioned ale (never had any luck with that). Very malty, smells hoppier than it really is. Very well balanced beer. Would have been an instant favorite had it had a higher ABV.

Thanks to ekstedt & friends. Copper with an offwhite head. Malty fudge aroma. Bitter with an even more bitter aftertaste. Somewhat dry mouthfeel. Light carbonation.

Pours a clear mahogany, with a 3 finger chunky, tan head that has great retention. Aroma is caramel, planty hops, fresh grain, cereal grain, fresh red apple, sweet grass, straw, dark fruit, pitted fruit (notably nectarine), a little toast, a hint of citrus potpouri, and lots of earth notes. Flavor is grainy malt, grass, planty hops, dark caramel, some raisin, randomly wooded campfire smoke, sweet tobacco, burnt orange peel, spicy/planty hops, cinnamon, green maple wood, and floral hints. Finsih is bitter hops, roast, light pine, woody and light earthy notes. Palate is medium body and dry from entry through finish with a lighly bubbled, yet sharp carbonation. Really a fantastic beer that (tin my experience, at this point) deserves it’s throne atop the "English Strong Ale" ladder. Great stuff.

Clear dark brown color with a billowing head that took its time dissipating and left great lacing on the glass. Strong malt and fruit aroma with some citrus. Great complex profile of flavors, almost like a Belgian. Caramel, nuts, fruit, malts, citrusy hops, with the malt winning out in the end. Wonderful mouthfeel - silky smooth, just the right carbonation. Other Fullers seemed to fall short of expectations; this exceeded them by a mile.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2008 A beautiful clear, dark red colored beer. With a thick beige foamed head. The aroma of roasted malts, caramel, a little coffee, a little chocolate and fruity. The taste of malts, bitter, sweet coffee and light chocolate, dark fruits like raisin. The aftertaste stay for awhile, gentle bitter and dry.
