UPDATED: APR 14, 2004 Thick rich head and a deep reddish brown color. The hops and malt are well balanced. Simply a great beer.

Bottle sample- Pours a light amber colour with a frothy head that is just off tan in colour. Aroma is smokey, peppery, fruity, complex as hell. Taste is fruit, malty sweetness, and hops bitterness. Finish is bitter, and alcohol is not noticable. A well balanced ESA with obviously a lor of care put into the brewing. Well done Fuller’s.

Amber/red color with a medium tan head that quickly dissipated. Aroma of roasted malt, hops(Goldings?) and a sort of gingerbread smell. Flavors of roasted malt, molasses, nuts with the bitterness of the hops finishing it off nicely.

Had this from a bottle, dark amber appearance with a nice head. Aroma was sweet and spicy and flavors were slightly bitter, but real nice. An exceptional brew.

Reddish brown color, thick white head. Aroma of fruit jam. Flavor of malt and fruit jam with a bitter finish. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Very good beer, so far Fullers beer are amazing.

Pours a beautiful reddish-brown. Good head retention. Smells of soap and nuts, but quite pleasant. A great taste of roasted rye and barley, with perhaps a bit too much bitterness for my taste. Incredibly malty, mmh...

Bottle @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Offical tasting with represetatives from the brewery.
Another beer to walk miles for if you can find it on cask! This bottled version is very good too. One of the best bottled UK ales to my oppinion. Well balanced and still complex. Beware of the strenght!

Magnificent! Beautiful amber copper color, solid well formed head that lasts, breads, grains & wood on the nose and a body that is hearty and consistent, tastes follow the aroma. A very superb crafted strong ale without significant alcohol overtones. Hearty enough & enjoyable.

Another cracker from Fullers, pours a lovely brick red with a long lasting off white head. Aroma is malty with a toasty cocoa taste.

Bottle. Red/brown with hardly any head. Full, rich, heavy fruity body balanced by some hops at the finish. A bit too gassy and heavy for me. I will lay some bottles down to see if they improve with age.
