Aroma is very hard to detect...very faint cola notes is all I pick up. Light brown with a firm finger thick head. I get the fruit cake notes mentioned the Commercial Descrip. and in fact this is VERY bready. Mild spice in there as well. The cake/bread notes are extremely long lasting and start from the middle and stay well into the aftertaste. I like beers like this that have a feel good aftertaste that lingers a long while

pours unclear richly bright amber-red with a small creamy light beige-reddish head showing some retention and a nice lacing. fruity, woodsy, nutty and spicy malts/hops - incredible malt/hop bill, specialty malts, red fruitiness - some berries, cherries, bit of toffee w/o being caramelly not buttery, green coffee beans, fruitcake spices indeed, bitter chocolate, pepper, clean english yeast - nothing off and leaving way for malts to express themselves freely, soft earthy notes, hint of sweetness, grass. moderately low carbonation, light to medium body - oily but never heavy, lightly astringent and assertive grassy-spicy-peppery-earthy finish. balanced. like a masterfully crafted strong bitter. very good!

Bottle from greens and in my most rated beer mission. Nutty almond and caramel aromas. Big sweet candi sugar flavors. Molasses and nuts again too. Way better than Sam smiths and something I would get again pending other options. Nice drink.

Strong ale celebrating the 150th birthday of the brewery in 1995. Refermented in the bottle. Creamy, beige, irregular foam leaving pretty lacing, bright copper colour; assertive aroma of raspberry, strawberry, sweet cherries, caramel, flowers. Complex fruity and malty taste, mouth-filling bitterness of toasted malts, refined, nutty, long and very dry, very satisfying finish. One of their best.

Aroma frutado e adocicado. Coloração marrom avermelhada com excelente carbonatação e boa formação de espuma (boa retenção da mesma). Sabor levemente adocicado e com boa torrefação. Retrogosto amargo e com lembranças de café. Ótima opção de cerveja.

Beautiful malt aroma. Cloudy ruby red colour with excellent head. Toffee malt flavour up front with bitter hop finish. Medium to heavy body with medium carbonation.

bottle. Amber with two finger head. Caramel malt base, a bit sweet with some hop bitterness in the finish. It’s an easy drinker, but not overly flavorful or unique. Not bad at all, but certainly not what I expected for such a highly rated beer.

Bottle, 500ml. A chestnut beer with a medium size creamy head and some lacing. It has a roasted aroma of dry fruits, spices, caramel and alcohol. Taste is bitter, slightly stronger at the end. This beer is somewhat dense, yet I find it drinkable and warming. It has a strong aftertaste with a malt character.

Bottle, 500ml. Clear reddish copper with a creamy beige head with foamy lacing. Spicy, roasted aroma, with hints of dry fruits and toffee. Rich and smooth, with flat carbonation. Deep spicy character and pleasant dark maltiness, with a heavy alcohol and bitter finish. Very drinkable, but definitely on the strong side.

Clear dark copper, stable offwhite head. Aroma has malt, toffee, dried fruit and alc. Flavour is similar with boozy/vinous notes. Quite complex and well balanced. Finish is spicy and boozy, a little rough perhaps.
