badgerben (2989), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jan 11, 2004 Rubyish color and a long lasting head. Aroma suggested wood to me. Taste is quite nice: a mix of fruit typical of an English beer, but with a hit of the wood taste one might expect from some Scotches. Malt and hops make their appearances. A wonderful offering from Fullers, and my 200th tasting!
marcus (893), Sacramento, California, USA Jul 6, 2008 This pale ale poured with a foamy off-white head that lasted a while. There is a strong malt aroma and a full-bodied creamy malt flavor with a peppery finish. Very balance and tasty. larsga (2086), Oslo, Norway Jul 6, 2008 Big deep offwhite shiny lasting head. Dark brown body made hazy by suspended yeast particles. Fruity malty aroma with peppery roasty toffee notes. Deep rich sweet intensely malty fruity taste with roasty peppery toffee and chocolate notes. Dry wooden minty roasty aftertaste with faint hoppy notes. Some sherry/paper notes, probably from oxidization. Long spicy aftertaste of wood creosote. Harmonic and balanced. Lovely! An excellent beer. (0.5l bottle, Systembolaget, Göteborg. BBD 2009-08-14.) drunkbeer (14), London, Greater London, England Jul 5, 2008 A good bottle conditioned ale. Its less of a gradpha beer than many UK ales. Better than all those stale lame-arse pasteurized UK Ales with wimpy 5% booze. I prefer to drink bland lagers if having to make preferance : Fullers 1845 is strong and malty . There is some fruit cake and spicy hop texture. Still dig strong USA Ales better. Borup (978), Albertslund, Denmark Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Reddish brown with a creamy head. Aroma and flavour of malt, hops, spice and fruit. metsbcd (72), Connecticut, USA Jul 2, 2008 It was ok. The smell had me a bit worried, as it smelled sickly sweet and of lots of molases. Luckily it didn’t actually taste like its aroma. Overrated beer.
