COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular (but not permanent). Also available bottle conditioned (at 5.3%).

NOTE: Originally developed for Systembolaget in Sweden as the 5.3% bottle conditioned version of Fullers India Pale Ale in 2009. Also released in bottles into some other export markets under that name at around the same time. Subsequently launched in the UK as Bengal Lancer and exported at 5.3% in bottle conditioned format to certain export markets under that name. The bottled version of Bengal Lancer and the 5.3% bottle conditioned version of India Pale Ale are the same beer, as is the slightly weaker 5.0% cask version. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDQNyaNLkQc for explanation.

Bengal Lancer is an exciting, classic India Pale Ale from Fuller’s. Brewed to 5% ABV (5.3% in bottle), this ale has been inspired by the history and character of this traditional style of beer.
Bengal Lancer has returned to pumps for an extended period between Autumn 2011 and Spring 2012.
The beer is pale in colour, full-bodied with a distinctive hoppiness that marks it out as a true India Pale Ale.

Pours copper with medium sized off-white head, mostly lasting. Caramel and flowery hops in aroma. Fully flavoured with sweet caramell and only moderate bitterness. A bit dull for an IPA but a quite ok session beer.

Bottle. It’s a clear, golden beer with an off-white to beige head. The aroma is citrusy up front, on a malty base. The same goes for the flavor, with some bitterness added. Rather straight-forward and un-interesting. Medium to full body, and a hint of metal in the finish. Easy drinkable and quenching, but not very interesting. 090828

Not the best IPA in the world, but drinkable. Would wish for more balance and sweetness. The aftertaste could also be better. Not something I would like again in the near future.

Biggish offwhite head is slightly coarse. Amber body with carbonation. Floral fruity aroma with strawberry malts notes. Dry-sweetish (and faintly acidic?) strawy floral grainy taste with dusty peppery notes. Mid-bodied. Clean palate. Dry peppery floral earthy aftertaste with metallic notes. (0.5l bottle, Systembolaget, Charlottenberg.)
