Cask: Regular (but not permanent). Also available bottle conditioned (at 5.3%).

NOTE: Originally developed for Systembolaget in Sweden as the 5.3% bottle conditioned version of Fullers India Pale Ale in 2009. Also released in bottles into some other export markets under that name at around the same time. Subsequently launched in the UK as Bengal Lancer and exported at 5.3% in bottle conditioned format to certain export markets under that name. The bottled version of Bengal Lancer and the 5.3% bottle conditioned version of India Pale Ale are the same beer, as is the slightly weaker 5.0% cask version. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDQNyaNLkQc for explanation.

Bengal Lancer is an exciting, classic India Pale Ale from Fuller’s. Brewed to 5% ABV (5.3% in bottle), this ale has been inspired by the history and character of this traditional style of beer.
Bengal Lancer has returned to pumps for an extended period between Autumn 2011 and Spring 2012.
The beer is pale in colour, full-bodied with a distinctive hoppiness that marks it out as a true India Pale Ale.

Decent bitterness and body, although it could do better with some tweaks. Nice enough brew, quite sessionable, but overally not very complex.

Nice! Just what an English IPA should be. Biscuity malts to complement the hops, average abv, and of course balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, 500 ml. Pours mostly clear amber with minimal amount of soapy white head. Floating yeast particles visible. Aroma of caramel malt, yeast, grassy and floral hops, citrus and apple. Taste is very bready and yeasty, which a nice backdrop of caramel, honey, lemon, and the ever present hoppy bitterness, which is more prominent in the finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are balanced well in this medium bodied and softly carbonated brew, exactly how an IPA should taste.

500ml bottle conditioned poured into tulip glass.Nice floral fruit gum aroma. Flavour same as aroma followed by hop prickle. The word ’Juicy’ comes to mind, don’t know why. Nice.

Bottle purchased from Sainsbury’s, consumed at home. Golden with a good amount of carbonation and off-white head. Grassy, lemony hops. Fresh, bittersweet, citrusy taste. Short dry aftertaste with a last hint of lemon. This is a proper English IPA, enjoyable and subtle.

Piwo butelkowe. Kolor lekko mętny złoty. W zapachu estry owocowe lekka żywiczność i zielsko. Piana zero, szybko znika i nie oblepia szkła wcale. W smaku owoce cytrusowe, gorzkie skórki cytryny, żywica i spory posmak miodowy. Piwo jest słodkie z wyraźną lecz niezbyt mocną goryczkową kontrą która przyjemnie zalega. Wysycenie bardzo małe co czyni piwo bardzo pijalnym. Praworządna angielska IPA.

Clear pilsner looking beer with a small head. Aroma is floral and grassy hops, some fruity notes too. Nothing special yet. Taste is smooth and balanced malts and hops, nothing special here either. Finishes smooth and bitter. Too english for my taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
