COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular (but not permanent). Also available bottle conditioned (at 5.3%).

NOTE: Originally developed for Systembolaget in Sweden as the 5.3% bottle conditioned version of Fullers India Pale Ale in 2009. Also released in bottles into some other export markets under that name at around the same time. Subsequently launched in the UK as Bengal Lancer and exported at 5.3% in bottle conditioned format to certain export markets under that name. The bottled version of Bengal Lancer and the 5.3% bottle conditioned version of India Pale Ale are the same beer, as is the slightly weaker 5.0% cask version. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDQNyaNLkQc for explanation.

Bengal Lancer is an exciting, classic India Pale Ale from Fuller’s. Brewed to 5% ABV (5.3% in bottle), this ale has been inspired by the history and character of this traditional style of beer.
Bengal Lancer has returned to pumps for an extended period between Autumn 2011 and Spring 2012.
The beer is pale in colour, full-bodied with a distinctive hoppiness that marks it out as a true India Pale Ale.

Cask at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö; end of cask
Hazy amber color. The aroma is yeasty, lightly hoppy and fruity (from the malt), with apples (not a good sign) and honey. Crispy malt flavor, quite dry mouthfeel, with strong bitterness, maybe too much. A bit rought, not bad for this.
Earlier Rating: 1/19/2010 Total Score: 3.3
Bottle conditioned
Beautiful amber color; generous head. The aroma shows initially a hint of hops, then of malt, finally soapy caramel, uh! Dry caramel flavor, it may be interesting, good quality; but this Ale misses a lot of the qualities that make a good English Ale. Still, one good offer in the bottle, as we can’t have cask every day.
