3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JesseM (944) - Kitchener-Waterloo, - NOV 18, 2011
500mL Lickbow bottle. Pours a hazy coppery gold with a small beige head. Aroma is very plain, some Goldings on top of typical Brit malts, with some yeast and flowery zest. Flavour is a little bland to be honest, well balanced with some biting hops and doughy malt backbone, but over-carbonated. Medium feeling body. Not bad over-all but it doesn’t leave me screaming injustice to the name of British IPA’s on this site. Earlier Rating: 12/3/2010 Total Score: 3.7 On tap at the Kick Off. Nice deep clear copper with a small white surface film. Aroma is faint and unimpressive, citrusy hops are really the only thing worthy of note. But they’re good. The flavour makes up for the lack of aroma. Hits right away with some pedestrian British malts, but then some really nice prickly hop character shows up with some delicious citrusy and resiny elements. Finishes somewhat dry, with a lingering sweet malty flavour highlighted by the hops. Everything flows together quite well. This is a pretty solid beer, glad to have got the chance to try it.

On tap
Pours and orange color with a medium tight white head.
The aroma has some marmalade & grassy hops, along with a lightly toasty malt character.
The flavor has lots of toasty malt up front and is mildly sweet. The hop character is fairly dominant and is grassy & herbal in character. The beer is fairly bitter and has some orange-y fruitiness.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 buggybill2003 (12) - - MAY 24, 2012
Fruity aroma slightly homebrew like. Sharp and pleasant refreshing on the palate. Nice colour. Not a beer I would look for particularly, but would happily drink it if it was bought for me.

0.5 bottle labeled simply as India Pale Ale. Surprising fruity nose, seems like orange peels or a jam. Nice amber-colored clear liquid with some suspension leaving a smudge trace, topped with a white creamy head. Taste is quite neutral, if skewed in any direction then I must say slightly bitter, nothing to elaborate on. Medium body and a creamy texture emphasized even more by a very soft carbonation, one could say it is nearly flat. Finish seems to taste like hay with some fruitiness, quite lingering. Overall a nice beer, neither exuberant nor disappointing, commendable for its drinkability.

On tap. The pour was medium amber with a big lingering head and good clarity. The nose is of full caramel malts, sweetness, and yeasty esters. The hops are played down. The body is medium and of smooth, creamy quality. The taste has a full sweet malty character with a bitter hop bite at the end. Very likable.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Marko (3128) - Split, CROATIA - MAY 8, 2012
Ogi’s, of course. Orangey golden body witha medium sized slightly off white head. Slightly oily peach jam nose. Empty malty taste with a light herbal hopiness, the peachiness shows up again. Too dumbed down, unimpressive, and yet so much better than the last two English ales that we’ve had before this.

On Tap: Deep gold color, substantial long lasting cap. Soft carbonation. Fruity-grassy aroma. Full bodied, front side is Marris floormaltiness and some succulent fruitiness balanced with long boil Kent Goldings, some earthiness, herbal tones, goes to a clean bitter finish, A full flavored traditional UK styled IPA which is very smooth in delivery and easy to have a couple.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Tide (133) - Espoo, FINLAND - APR 27, 2012
Amber color, medium white head. Smooth taste with citrus, pine and some bitterness. Quite ok, but doesn't stand out from the mass.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Marduk (395) - ESTONIA - APR 25, 2012
Bottle. Straw golden color. Nice white head, stays. Mild aroma of caramel, citrus and hops over all of them. Slightly dry, fruity hops with mild bitter ending.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Glouglouburp (4783) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 18, 2012
In short: A bready, citrusy and leafy pale ale. Decent.
How: Bottle 500ml (with label ‘India Pale Ale’, alias here on ratebeer). Consumed relatively fresh a few weeks after the beer became available in Canada
The look: Almost clear golden orange body, some small particles, small white head
In long: Nose is orange muffin, leafy hops, some grassy notes, some vegetal notes. Taste has white bread soaked in citrus juice, sweet dough, soft cookies, wet grassy notes. Bitterness level is low-medium. I was surprised to see how ‘not-crisp’ this beer was coming from Fuller, really felt a bit doughy and yeasty which is very unusual from this cleaner-than-clean brewery. Overall this was an unexceptional but pleasant refreshing beer that was also nourishing. Decent beer. Nothing spectacular but very easy to drink, and I like to drink a bunch of beers while reading a good book just to confuse my brain on whether or not I hate it.
