Handsome tactile bottle from a Chavsda in Norwich. Good as black slim lidded with nicotine. Nose butter scooped into coffee, carob, dried peppers, bramble and liquorice. Bittersweet and ladled with bitter chocolate, carob, prune, plummier tones sprinkled with ash and rust. Burnt pistachio in the blender. Bit schwarz-like. Bitter linger leavened with lactic tones. Not bad.

Bottle, 500ml. Black colour with a large, frothy Brown head. Aroma of sweet chocolate malt and citric hops. Flavour has smooth chocolate malt, bitter cocoa, some citrus in the finish. Light carbonation. Very nice.

50cl bottle shared @home. Pours opaque black, with small diminishing off-white head. Medium body for a stout, and the palate is poor for my taste or perception of a good stout. Malty, aromas of roasted coffee beans, grains, burnt caramel. Rich in hops, mostly citrus peels. Not as high in alcohol, fair lacing, bitter aftertaste. I’m used to more complex stouts, but this one didn’t have a special character. Fair but not extraordinary.

Pours black with little head. Not much aroma to speak of. Seemed very thin and somewhat watery for a stout. Weak without much flavor, rather bland.

Light stout when looking at the ABV. Aroma is very balanced. Typical roasty, creamy stout. Mouthfeel suprised me. Pretty thick! Tasted creamy, syrup sweetness, roasted malt. Dry aftertaste, as expected. Very decent.

Maker: Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC (Fuller’s), Chiswick, London, England *** Beer: Fuller’s London Black Cab Stout (formerly Black Cab Stout) - bottled, 500ml *** Style: Stout *** ALC.VOL: 4.5% *** "Brewed with a combination of five different malts, some heavily roasted for a near jet black appearance, and beneath its dark exterior features luxurious red berry notes, toasty aromas on the nose and culminates in a dry, bitter finish. " [brewery notes] *** Colour: Dark brown, almost black. Medium beige head. *** Nose: Roasted malts. Coffee, a hint of vanilla. *** Texture: Medium bodied, not watery at all. Mild carbonation. *** Taste: Coffee malts, a wee hint of licorice and vanilla, but mostly dry. No fruit at first. Middle still dominated by coffee malts. Finish has a slightly fruity black currant note. Aftertaste is strongly bitter espresso, very dry. *** Impressions: Powerful, rather straightforward traditional stout, dry like a Guinness but more interesting (and less "charcoal-like"). Good stuff from Fuller’s.
