Bottle & Keg; Filtered & pasteurised.

Brewed with a combination of five different malts, some heavily roasted for a near jet black appearance, and beneath its dark exterior features luxurious red berry notes, toasty aromas on the nose and culminates in a dry, bitter finish.

Nice combination of chocolate malts and a deep traditional stout flavour. Black body with a creamy head. Thick and creamy in the mouth. Tastes sweeter than most beers. Lovely bottled beer, reasonable strength stout. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Black with beige head and lots of lacing. Licorice, roasted grains, ash, light toasted nuts, rye bread, mineral water. Quite dry, very light sweetness but mostly bitter with vegetal bitter finish. Light bodied and slight watery feel. Nice

From a 500ml bottle on 6/1/2015. Pours not far off black with quite a big tan head. The nose is quite strong with lots of toasty malt and berries. The berries have an even stronger influence in the flavour, with the tart/sour holding sway over the sweetness. Thereís lots of nutty, toasty, roasty, woody, treacle, licorice and other dark fruit flavours in the mix as well. The bitterness is quite pronounced, very dry and lingers long. Has quite a light body and average to lively carbonation. This is a flavoursome and complex stout and I can see why it would have a lot of fans. But for mine, itís just a little too dry and could use a touch more sweetness.

500ml Bottle bbMAY15, Maruhn [Xmas BS]. Translucent filter coffee watery brown, more like a (pasteurised) porter, met by modest cold filter coffee aroma, announcing some berry sourness which fully enters in taste: dark cocoa powder, ash of quality wood, thin wafer caramel, effervescent bourbon vanilla. Leafy hop tea bitterness comes through in the end quite confidently, zipping up the cold coffee for an easy quaffer. Makes sense and achieves quite a lot for its 4,5%.

Pours pitch black with a creme head that diminishes to a rim and cola-like carb. Aroma is coffee, some cocoa nibs and a hint of fruitiness. Flavor is rich fruitiness with espresso and a bitter chocolate aftertaste. Medium to light palate. Not particularly good on the looks and nose, very strong on the flavor and enjoyabiliy. Solid not-so-dry stout

Deep dark brown beer under a medium, dark beige head. Roasted nose, nutty, mocha. Bit milky too - lactose? Rather sweet nose, overall. Dry, roasted flavour; only the finish sporting some sweetness. Some dry wood, black mushrooms, Norit. Very creamy MF, despite good carbonation. Rather light body. Decent light stout, nothing fancy - whereas the blurb might suggest otherwise.

bottle from BiŤrerie, Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Deep black with a creamy and quite tall beige head. Pleasantly malty, not too dry, some sweetness left. Lots of chocolate and coffee.

In bottle. Beige, creamy, rocky head, not very persistent. At nose not very intense and persistent. Light body and carbonation. Typical roasted malt aromas. Good stout.
