3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a fair amount of fizz, with a fizzy, foamy tan head which dissipated quickly. Aroma has a touch of vanilla, a little coke, some coffee a spot of rum, nice. Medium to light body, a little too light perhaps. Bitter coffee chocolate, some dark fruits, some citrus a nice bitterness. Itís OK.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Biggish brown head. Nearly opaque black body goes just barely translucent dark brown at edges. Roasted sugar and roasted almonds aroma with licorice notes. Dry-sweet licorice and burnt grain taste with sooty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dry roasty burnt aftertaste with sooty licorice and spice notes. Nice and drinkable, lovely aroma, but the flavour is a little bit weak and soot-dominated. (0.5l bottle, from Budgens, York.)

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2013 Itís interesting how little chocolate and roasted malts I get on the aroma of this fabulous black beer, indeed, black as a cab. Most of the nose is some red fruit, both the tart ripe and the sweet dried. Then, the flavour gives us that mixture of roasted malts, 5-spoons milk chocolate and cocoa, licourice, black currants, plums and raisins. Complex but easy to drink, it ends with a slightly dry finish. It is much more than medium body, but a bit like a buxom brunette, with plenty to hold onto.

My god! Fullers "Outstanding" was my favorite stout/porter for a long time, but was instantly run down by the Black Cab and took the spot. Black Cab though not strong on the ABV like I would have preferred. The overall taste and after taste are great. This mid-body brew is great to try. Fullers is by far my favorite brand brew, under is Clown Shoeís.

Bottle at home. The colour is black with a compact beige medium head. Roasted aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and rye bread. The flavour follows up with nice roasted tones with the addition of dark berries, and has a dry ending. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A top stout. Balanced and smooth.

I stumbled upon this at RSVP Liquors in Portland, ME and had to try it. Fullers always puts out great products and this is no exception. Very flavorful, dark roasted malts that are put together to be so smooth. There is just a tough of hop to dry it out a little and there is a slight fruitiness, though I canít tell what it is. One of their best!
