Bottle, 50cl - Black opaque beer with a good head. Aroma is malty with notes of digestive biscuits, coffee, chocolate and cereal. Flavor is malty with notes of hay, biscuits, coffee and malt. Love it when stouts below 5% are this well made.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice combination of chocolate malts and a deep traditional stout flavour. Black body with a creamy head. Thick and creamy in the mouth. Tastes sweeter than most beers.
Lovely bottled beer, reasonable strength stout. Very drinkable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From a 500ml bottle on 6/1/2015. Pours not far off black with quite a big tan head. The nose is quite strong with lots of toasty malt and berries. The berries have an even stronger influence in the flavour, with the tart/sour holding sway over the sweetness. Thereís lots of nutty, toasty, roasty, woody, treacle, licorice and other dark fruit flavours in the mix as well. The bitterness is quite pronounced, very dry and lingers long. Has quite a light body and average to lively carbonation. This is a flavoursome and complex stout and I can see why it would have a lot of fans. But for mine, itís just a little too dry and could use a touch more sweetness.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml Bottle bbMAY15, Maruhn [Xmas BS]. Translucent filter coffee watery brown, more like a (pasteurised) porter, met by modest cold filter coffee aroma, announcing some berry sourness which fully enters in taste: dark cocoa powder, ash of quality wood, thin wafer caramel, effervescent bourbon vanilla. Leafy hop tea bitterness comes through in the end quite confidently, zipping up the cold coffee for an easy quaffer. Makes sense and achieves quite a lot for its 4,5%.
