Not complex, but a really pleasant and drinkable stout. Classically burnt malt taste, some bitterness in the finish, nothing overbearingly strong though.

Jet black colour. Aroma is of roasted malts but with a degree of sweetness too. Texture is smooth. Flavour is roasted malts but again retains the balance by being not overly bitter.

Cask conditioned at The Black Prince, Woodstock. Black with cream head. Darkly roasted, chocolate, coffee husk malts, buttering, dry. There is a background tartish fruitiness, but this may be due to the conditioning. Lasting on the palate. Good.

Very nice stout, reminded me of the "Double Chocolate Stout". Strong aroma of chocolate and coffee, brownish foam that goes away quickly, taste of chocolate and after-taste of bitter chololate with hints of coffee and cherry. A bit of light body.

On cask at the 2012 NWAF, Manchester. Pours a dark brown colour with a fair light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel and roasty malts. Similar flavours of roasty malt and chocolate with a brunt toast finish. Nicely bitter with moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

Full pint from cask @Barrow Boy and Banker, Southwark, London. Black body with ruby highlights. A finger of coarse beige foam on top. Nose is dryish black chocolate, faint licorice and coffee. Taste is dry and roasted, well burntdark malts, nicely balanced by a fresh ongoing bitterness. Slick in the mouth. Ok fullness. Fully balanced and very tasty.

Cask conditioned handpump Malt Shovel Northampton. A black beer with a little off-white pool of head and some lacing. A very smooth stout. Decent smoky malts. Minimum roast. A touch of fruit. Quite dry. Certainly pleasant but over safe.
