3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. The aroma of molasses, a heavy aroma, very sweet like liquor, reminds me of some medicine, in the background some hops. The small white head is fast disappearing, the body is dark yellow. The taste is bitter, some hops. The body is soapy, not much carbonation, a medium to strong body.

Bottle number 13830 Golden with a medium head that soon dissipated. Unusual malty whisky flavour with some fruitiness. Different. Not a great beer but still a pretty impressive one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle) Brownish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity nose with citrus, apples, ginger and hints of vanilla and oak. Fruity, malty taste with notes of citrus, orange, ginger, apples, marmalade and toffee. A hint of white wine, rather than whisky. Sweetish finish with a touch of honey and hints of vanilla and oak. Medium body, some citrussy bitterness. Not over-oaked, the wood character stays in the background. Not really brilliant, but a nice and tasty beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.5 l bottle, thanks Hannu N! Amber color with small head. Berryish aroma with white wine, calvados, vanilla, oak, grain whisky and gooseberry. Vinous and berryish flavor with oak, caramel, apple, raisins and vanilla. Surpringly this tastes more like a white wine and grain whisky than a single malt whisky. Poor drinkablilty and the flavors are clearly not in balance.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I got this at EBF 2008 before it went bad and I am glad I did, though my notes are funny as it is obviously in the infection stage. Dark amber color. Dried mangoes, sour cherries, very Belgian in character nose. Mouth is smooth still on the Belgian theme, but with raisins and wood and only a touch of whisky flavors. Alcohol is well hidden. Amazing balance for a barrel aged beer. More like a Belgian ale.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled (thanks omhper!). Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is licorice, fruity hops and quite lemony as well. Also some fudge and caramel malts as it waems up. Flavour is caramel malts, fruits and some slightly yeasty notes. Some whisky and oaky notes become more present when getting warm. Very nicely balanced.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled (BBE 2011, #11904).
Deep clear amber color, small steady off-white head. Malts, berries and hints of whisky in the nose. Medium-bodied. Malty, some hops, sweetish, whisky is dominating the flavor. I am not a big whisky fan, to the fans this should be more delicious.

500 ml bottle. Dark amber, pale yellow head. Aroma is rich with hops, sweet caramel and hint of fudge. Flavor has some rostedness, dry sense of whisky and some hops. Very complex rich flavour.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 500ml. Pours translucent tangerine/dark copper, with quickly disappearing off-white head. Aroma of citrus-peel, with fruity notes. Tangy on the palate, hiding the alcohol well, and well balanced. Lacking in character overall though - I think a little aging could work wonders.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottled) Clear, deep copper with a large, slightly tanned head. Aroma of dry, lightly roasted malt with vanilla and calvados - but not really whisky. Smoothly malty, dryish and oaky flavor with subtle vanilla, sourish apple, and some toffee-malty sweetness in the finish. No alcohol present. Medium, slicky body with silky-smooth carbonation. An enjoyable strong ale with oak aging bringing in subtle calvados and vanilla oakiness, but nothing too overpowering. Easy to sip.
