COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
This strong full-bodied malty ale has been aged in 30-year-old Single Malt casks for a period of 500 days, infusing the ale with flavours and characteristics of the whisky that has absorbed into the wood. Flavours include a balance of hoppy bitterness and tangy marmalade, rounded off with subtle smoky vanilla notes and a hint of whisky.

Bottle at Chriso’s Fullers-Gales Tasting. It pours hazy amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is sulphur, syrupy sweetness, gingerbread, touch of fruit and some alcohol. The taste is over-baked cake, spice, wood, caramel, tangy citrus, some whisky and metal. Full body and moderate carbonation. Balance seems off to me. Not great.

Touch hazy brown tawny colour. Nose is marmalade, sherry, citrous notes, sweet malty sugary. Taste is marmalade, touch of treacle, tangy fruit, but there’s a dry woodiness in this that isn’t all that great. Also dry on the finish. Not sure this is ageing very well.

I love smoke beers. This one has a thick beige head and a red-orange color. Not so much smoke aroma as the german smoke beers but sweet citrus aroma. The taste also has some caramell and some fruit that is balanced by a litle tart bríttish hop bitterness. Much sweetness and big body.

500 ml bottle. BB end of 2011. Bottle N° 04827. Finland.
Murky reddish brown colour with big creamy off-white head. Mild sourness, caramel sweetness, woody whiskey and mild bitterness in aroma. Flavour is complex. Sweet caramel, whiskey, vanilla sweetness, mild malt and sugar in flavour. Mild bitterness in aftertaste. Alcohol also quite present but in good way.

500ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki)
Mellow sweet woody bitter aroma. A touch buttery. Gently hoppy bite. Lovely smooth palate, woody but sweet too. Classic aged fullers taste. Woody and malty, and so darn mellow. Not saying whisky so much, but there is a gentle warming vapour in the mouth. Great beer.
Rating from the soured cask at EBF2008 has been scrapped completely as it was not as the brewer intended.
