COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - released in Autumn 2010. Also available on cask at GBBF 2010.
An oak-aged ale of real distinction. Twenty Courvoisier Cognac casks were used for Brewer’s Reserve No.2, giving the ale a palate rich with woody character and brandy notes. The beer pours a deep bronze colour and carries an oaky aroma. An exceptional beer that has been brewed and blended in the finest traditions.

EDITORS NOTE: Some sources have been erroneously applying the description for the Brewers Reserve No 1 to this beer. In fact, No 2 was aged in Cognac barrels whilst No 1 was aged in Whisky barrels.

Bottle. Pour was light ruby and copper in color with a short lasting head. Aroma was complex with with sweet oak, vinous characters, medium vanilla, and caramel biscuit notes. Carbonation was a bit high, so I decided to let mine degas just a bit. Once there, the flavors were superbly well blended and complex with oak and cognac, then moving towards the deep caramel and lightly toasted malt characters. The body of the beer is medium to light, but still sweet from the cognac and vanilla oak. Alcohol is well hidden in this brew, making it dangerously drinkable. I prefer this one over No. 1 for the better blend. I’m looking forward to No. 3.

Bottle 0,50L. Clear amber colour with soft visible carbonation and creamy, light brown head. Aroma of sherry and orange, cask wood and cognac. Bitter moderate start taste turns into heavy bitter aftertaste with strong chocolate note and slightly notable alcohol. Say what you want, but this is perfection for me. And everything they wrote on the back label is true!

50 cl bottle @ home. Bottle 27679, BBE 2013
Aroma is sweetish with cognag tones, some ripe apples and toffee. Also a slight feeling of aged Belgian ale. Flavour has cognag, woody notes, some toffee and . A slight cardboardy and watery feeling in the background. Somewhat stinging and creamy palate with a bit too much CO2. Perhaps not worth aging more than this.
