COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewer’s Reserve No.3 has spent 800 days gently maturing in old Auchentoshan whisky barrels, the longest maturation period of any of the Brewer’s Reserve beers. The beer draws notes of vanilla, honey and spicy ginger from the whisky-soaked wood, combined with a rich malty body.

Clear amber color, beautiful with red shades, with too large head. The aroma is strange; there is some good beer here, but also a strange (although not hostile) aroma of goat cheese, very light ammonia, and then hazelnuts.
The carbonation left is quite low; the flavor is a bit malty but anonymous; it has a light woody and cheesy character, a shade of whiskey, and a remarkably empty final.
Nothing to sweat for.

Bottle. Pours deep golden with an off-white head. Aroma of funk, wood, vanilla and malt. Flavor is sweet malt and leather, vanilla, wood and burnt wood. Medium body, average carbonation.

500ml bottle from tiong, rating #1100. This was a gusher so be careful. Hazy ruby copper with a thin off biege head that fades to nothing fairly quickly. Whisky is not overwhelming but adds a nice vanilla and oak aroma, along with orange, bit of sweet and sour thing going on, nice malt and grain combination as well. Moderate to low carbonation, mild yet strong body, more sweet and sour on the palate, seems a little watered down at the end but interesting for sure.

Tasted @ Grain Cru - Roll Out the Barrels, Belgian Beer Café, Perth.
Deep copper with little evident life. Head rapidly depletes back to nothing. Acidic, sour berries, oxidised sherry, vanilla and oak, hessian cloth and dank cellar must is the aroma – quite sharp but somehow mellowing. Piquant and musty sour berries and sherry of the aroma dances well across the palate. Dry, but with enough fruit to heighten it. It is spritzy in mouthfeel despite the lack of life in the appearance; an oily but thin finish sees it drop off hairy and acidic. Strong oak notes add a spice and hint of vanilla that lingers long with the musty fruit between each sip. I found this went down like a mulled wine as the alcohol seems absent. The oak barrels used might as well have been unused by the Whisky distiller as it plays little into the aroma and flavour. A very likeable brew, but not an overly complex brew. Clear amber body, khaki head. Aroma of raw acidic sour apples and cherries. Woody vanilla notes, bit thinnish. Quite raw acidic Beer, but I like it.

Pours amber with a thin white/beige foam head. It smells coconut, moisture, wood. I honestly think this has been brewed or lagered with oak chips rather than aok aged. At least both processes have been followed. There is something wrong in it. In mouth some roasted wood flavours as well as spices come. Whisky flavours come in aftertaste with a nice bitterness. Too heavy aromas with a strange sweetness, not well balanced: not my favourite.

Aroma has oak and whiskey, ripe fruit, bit funk. Brown hazy, creamy white head is medium long. Strong aromatic taste, sherryand above mentioned. Medium body, soft feel, long aromatic finish. Very tasty beer, lots to enjoy.
