Brewer’s Reserve No.3 has spent 800 days gently maturing in old Auchentoshan whisky barrels, the longest maturation period of any of the Brewer’s Reserve beers. The beer draws notes of vanilla, honey and spicy ginger from the whisky-soaked wood, combined with a rich malty body.

05/05 0.5 l bottle ogivlado brought from Bratislava, thanks for sharing! It poured hazy orange brownish body with medium sized beige head. Hops in aroma, stale and sourish. Flavor was also sourish hoppy, but in much finer way, woody, peaty, slightly bitter alcoholic, sweetish honey malty. Not particularly rich body though, but it had longer finish where that whisky character is felt the most. Fine enough, all messed up but not a bad beer. Nothing great or worth such processing either.

Bottle. Gushed upon opening and poured an amber color with an off white head. Aroma is marmalade, peach, toasted oak, some gingery notes, red berries, whiskey and orange. The flavor follows the nose and is kind of over carbonated, I get marmalade, toasted oak, dark fruits, red berries, peach, toasted oak, whiskey, orange and ginger notes. The body is medium with a very fizzy mouth feel because of the carbonation. Overall a solid oak aged English Ale, but still not my favorite in the series.

Bottle from Alko Arkadia. The bottle opens with a big hiss and foam starts to come out. Poured into a 0.3l snifter, the whole glass is filled with foam on the first pour. No sign of the beer itself. Finally the head settles and surprisingly enough, the beer is copper amber with a sleek, small, stylish, slightly reddish hjead. Aroma is somewhat sour, slight vinegar, a lot of oak barrel, slight whisky and vanilla, maltiness, slight smoke. Taste is a tad sweet, a lot of salty liquorice, slight whisky peat and smoke, a slab of vanilla on the finish. Vanilla and malt in the aftertaste. Slight oxidation is detectable at times along with wooden notes. Palate is quite full, not much carbonation.

Bottle, pours almost clear amber with small white head. Aroma and taste is nuts, whiskey, vanilla. Much alcohol in both taste and aroma, also kind of sour which isnt that pleasant. Little bit weird but still kind of intersesting.

Bottled from Systembolaget N:o14565 Amber with a fizzy head and high carbonation. I’d say this one’s a bad bottle. Sourish in both aroma and flavour (vinegar) and very fizzy. Alcoholic with only faint notes of maltiness and vanilla. Some late, wooden notes.

Lite torr eftersmak.
