This is big cognac and wood. Big soapy white head on light brown. Boozy. Decent drinkability and smooth, but hard to share as people wanted hops. Think it will be mellower in a few short years.

pootzboy (1594) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 2, 2013
bottle # 30102 - pours a lightly hazed copper-red ale in the glass with a tight 2 finger cap which reduces to a surface lace. Pungent aroma is a glorious concoction of brandy grape skins, smoked oak and dark fruitiness from the ale and a sweet caramel malt tone. Medium bodied slick mouth feel. Flavour is simply a blast of brandied fruit riding on a sweet malt fomite - light undeveloped complexity in the mid palate will probably improve with some time in the cellar - finish is long and rich with the brandy/oak tones giving way to a more earthy malty fruitness of the ale. This is a powerful ale in nose and palate with substantial fusel strength - very good to sip with a cigar or dessert, but a few more months in the cellar will bring everything together well.

Bottle from Lakenheath, drank at Beautiful Beers. Nice boozy aroma without being stupid. Cherries, grapes and chocolate flavors, leans towards the malty side of things. Does not drink as heavy as it is. Great beer that can only get better with several years under its belt. Very good beer.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours clear ruby red with a big head. Aroma of plums and other dark fruits. Taste: grapes, raisins, spruce. Quite sweet (not in a bad way). It’s like a lighter version of a port, with some hops in it. Very tasty.

Bottle 26295 , 500 ml
Aroma: fruity berry barrel treatment , hint of spruce, vanilla and alcohol. Sweeter sides.
Look: clear amber base with medium thick creamy cap. Good longevity. Rings on glass. 4-
Taste: medium full bodied. Bold caramel fig like front. Brown sugars with vanilla side. Plenty of dried fig in there. Tad thin on sides. Touch of cola elements. Decent but Fullers can do better.
