The taste is rather sweet; raisin, currant, date, wood, tinned peach, vanilla and underlying alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Medium body, low carbonation and slightly syrupy mouth-feel. Ok, but not spectacular. I didn’t find it particularly drinkable, but that may be because it was a hot summers day....

Bottle #31681. Pours a dark amber with a medium, off-white had. Aroma is supercharged with pear, sweet pears and pear soda or candy. Caramel, light toffee and light butter. Later settles down to a load of oak, caramel and orange marmalade. Taste is quite dry with the oak dominating. Caramel is strong as well. Armagnac comes on strong on the finish along with grapes, dark fruit, dried fig and date. Light sour. Palate is medium, a bit sticky, not much carbonation. Very pleasant.

Bottle. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour berries, some brettish notes, oak and malt. Flavor is sweet and malty with some fruitiness, berries, caramel and slightly brettish. Medium body, average carbonation.

Bottle. A big, dense, off-white head forms over a clear, dark amber body. Lightly brett-ish aroma with some boozy hints, dried fruits, berries and a toffee hint. Really wonderful. There’s some warmth on the palate, it’s full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, with flavors of toffee, booze, dried fruits, berries and a generic fruityness. Some apricot notes. Lasting finish with a lovely touch of the booze. Some vanilla pulls down the score a bit, I don’t care too much for that in mye beers, especially in the paler beers.
