3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the Hung Drawn and Quartered, London, 20th October 2012 on The Thames Tipple, now well into London and running out of pubs fast, we were also in company of Ang A bit pricey at £7.75 a bottle however its a decent sized bottle so good for sharing and to be fair its a damn good beer. Loads of dark sugars, nice warmth from the alcohol, some sweet orange flavours and whilst I am not really knowledgeable about Armagnac I could tell that it’s influence could be felt. Thoroughly enjoyable beer, and proof that Fullers can really knock out some good stuff when they put their mind to it, however I actually don’t mind Fullers, I know they have their critics but I don’t mind them at all. (Bottle) Amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, apricots, orange peel, dark bread, honey, oak wood, vanilla, a touch of chocolate and earthy aromas of armagnac. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, apricots, dark bread, nuts, orange peel, a touch of chocolate, spicy hints of cinnamon and vanilla, and a warming touch of armagnac in a finish with a balanced bitterness. 500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear copper colour with moderate-sized cream-coloured head. Aroma is quite woody with caramel, cherries, baked apples and earthiness. Flavour is full of oakiness, fair amount of dark fruit, including cherry, stewed green apple, hints of caramel and vanilla, as well as a little earthiness. Interesting.

Deep honey, chocolate aroma. Pours dark amber with a foamy, bubbling which has the hint of sweetness from the armagnac oak casks . Has a heady oaked flavour, malty, caramel, and that armagnac returns at the end. Triumphant!
