Bottle at the Hung Drawn and Quartered, London, 20th October 2012 on The Thames Tipple, now well into London and running out of pubs fast, we were also in company of Ang A bit pricey at £7.75 a bottle however its a decent sized bottle so good for sharing and to be fair its a damn good beer. Loads of dark sugars, nice warmth from the alcohol, some sweet orange flavours and whilst I am not really knowledgeable about Armagnac I could tell that it’s influence could be felt. Thoroughly enjoyable beer, and proof that Fullers can really knock out some good stuff when they put their mind to it, however I actually don’t mind Fullers, I know they have their critics but I don’t mind them at all. 500ml bottle served in a Duvel tulip glass. Bottle nr. 36756. A: Pours a dark amber color. Quite nutty but absolutely clear. Forms a medium bubbled yellow head forming small spotty lacings in the glass. Medium to low retention but with a quite persistent thin layer that remains on the top for long time S: Great sweet toffee and caramel malts with strong notes of wood and cognac. Booze but balanced. Fruity as it should with strong notes of dark and mainly dry fruits: cherry, raisins and plums T: Sweet front. Strong notes of toffee, caramel malts, roasted malts. Ooooaaak! Oh boy... Strong notes of dark fruits and dark dry fruits like plums, raisins, cherry, grapes and cherrywood. Notes of cognac and alcohol M: Heavy molasses body. Medium carbonation. Sweet malty aftertaste with strong alcohol notes. Warming beer O: Great drinkability. Extremely well done ale. Just another Fuller’s masterpiece [ BA Review @ 10/31/2013 ]

Bottle: Thanks Papsø: #01848: Served in a Chouffe glass: Bigger pink ish beige creamy head. Beautiful hazy warm orange colored beer. Aroma of white wine, grapes, some wood, hint of (wilder) yeast, light malts, hint of vanilla, some custard and a nice balanced pinch of spices. Beautiful aroma, very nice sniffer! Flavour of grapes, bitter, very light tint of something like light tart fruit, yeast, some herbs, some wood, malts, light spice and grain tones some white wine and some earthy tones with a hint of wilder yeast. Also a light alcohol touch. Aftertaste is bitter, malty, herbal and some white wine notes. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, more than medium bodied and a spicy creamy texture. Nice stuff! Interesting and tasty!

Bottle #29838 - purchased at the LCBO in May 2013, in my "cellar" since then. Pours a mostly clear sunset-copper with a light tan head. Really lovely aroma that seems subtle, but has a lot going on when you look for it - armagnac (duh!), marzipan, figs, prunes, a slightly sour woodiness, and a bit of bitter orange peel. Flavour is a little less complex, starting with sweet caramel malt, with armagnac notes quickly following, some warming spice (clove, nutmeg), and finishing with bitter orange and some alcohol, although not as much as you might expect from an 8.5% beer. A very nice sipper that I spent most of an evening enjoying.

Sanslöst stor doft, sött, fatigt och en massa torkad frukt. Aprikoser å russin. Fyllde munnen på ett kladdigt och storartat sätt! Fan vad jag önskar att jag hade köpt en till av den här!!
