3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the Hung Drawn and Quartered, London, 20th October 2012 on The Thames Tipple, now well into London and running out of pubs fast, we were also in company of Ang A bit pricey at £7.75 a bottle however its a decent sized bottle so good for sharing and to be fair its a damn good beer. Loads of dark sugars, nice warmth from the alcohol, some sweet orange flavours and whilst I am not really knowledgeable about Armagnac I could tell that it’s influence could be felt. Thoroughly enjoyable beer, and proof that Fullers can really knock out some good stuff when they put their mind to it, however I actually don’t mind Fullers, I know they have their critics but I don’t mind them at all. 3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle #29838 - purchased at the LCBO in May 2013, in my "cellar" since then. Pours a mostly clear sunset-copper with a light tan head. Really lovely aroma that seems subtle, but has a lot going on when you look for it - armagnac (duh!), marzipan, figs, prunes, a slightly sour woodiness, and a bit of bitter orange peel. Flavour is a little less complex, starting with sweet caramel malt, with armagnac notes quickly following, some warming spice (clove, nutmeg), and finishing with bitter orange and some alcohol, although not as much as you might expect from an 8.5% beer. A very nice sipper that I spent most of an evening enjoying.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This has a shot of sleek brandy nuances over the totally great alefruits and superb malting - not as forceful as Armagnac’s big cousin, Cognac and it suits well. Winey AND beery all at once, wow I have a full-on beer boner.
