2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, - NOV 17, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 10, 2008 Nov, 2002: A highly regarded cask bitter that has its devoted followers but is perhaps over-rated. It is certainly quite fresh - yeasty and fruity. There is a strange dark fruit note which is surprisingly light tasting - perhaps apricots is the nearest fruit. The finish is the most interesting part. There is a mild musty/dusty bitterness which gets drier and hoppier. There is also an astringent grapefruity after-taste; not the grapefruit itself, but the taste left in the mouth after eating a grapefruit. On the negative side this could be called wishy-washy dishwater. You pays your money and takes your choice. [2.6]
Nov, 2004: The Partridge, a Fuller’s house, Bromley. Dry session bitter. Slightly dusty with old fashioned English hops. Soft white lily perfume. Greene King IPA has more character. [2.4]
Feb, 2006 The Jack Horner, Tottenham Court Road - Fuller’s pub. Slightly nutty. Quite dry. Green apple notes with a fair amount of tannin. A little flabby. I keep trying, but I can’t get into this beer. I’ve not yet had a great experience. [2.1]
April, 2007 Bell & Crown, Chiswick - Fuller’s pub. Try as I might I can never quite get into this beer - everything seems just a little too light. It tastes mean, thin, dry and slightly ugly. Goldings hops provide some earthy bite, but it is more earth than bite. The first impact is dish-water, as though this was the second (or third?) run through the mash. As the palate gets accustomed to it some character does grow a bit - but not a lot. [2.5]
Aug, 2008 The Blackbird, Earls Court - a Fullers pub. I’m really not a fan of Chiswick, but we popped into a Fullers Ale & Pie pub for something to eat before the George Michael concert, and I didn’t want to take in too much alcohol during the day as I’d be driving back, so a session bitter was all I wanted to wash down the pie. It was served lovely, cool and fresh - the best condition Chiswick I’ve ever had. I really enjoyed it for the first time ever! [3.6]

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2012
Cask at the Masque Haunt, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Light malt nose with hints of toast. Light sweet flavor with light, leafy bitterness, light toast and faintly tangy wood. Light bodied with soft, fine carbonation. Light sweet finish with mild, leafy bitters, and lighly tangy malts. Decent bitter overall.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 15, 2011
First tasted this in Coanes, Johnstone way back in May 1987. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale tawny in colour with a thin creamy white head. Short yeasty bread notes in the aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base with tangy marmalade peel notes. Strong metallic tang of hop resins gives a long bitter aftertaste. Finish is well balanced with slightly sweet notes of satsumas coming through. An ok session bitter
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jackl (756) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 11, 2011
Cask. Light amber color with very little head. Biscuity malts and light, raisiny notes dominate the nose. The taste is light and bitter, refreshing if watery. The palate is light, carbonation light. This is a fine bitter that gets reasonable flavor out of the abv. Still, this beer’s a pretty boring bitter. I just don’t quite understand how this was gbbf champion beer of 1989.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 9, 2011
[4044-20111028] Cask. Smells a little like olives and fresh Chardonnay grapes with a little peat. Slightly hazy, orange brown body with a quick bubbly head. Lightly bitter flavour has an odd grape skin malt and light burnt bread notes. Medium body is a little undercarbonated and watery. Average, but happy for the opportunity to try it. (6/3/5/3/13) 3.0
