5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
My favorite English beer, very important to drink it young.
True afficionados drink it the day it is delivered - the publican may say it hasn’t settled - ignore him and offer twice the usual price. When delivered it is bright, exciting the very elixir of life with hops whizzing around in the glass in the excited bubbles. It may look like a snow storm but the taste is out of this world. I have never met a publican that once persuaded to serve it on the day it is delivered is not hooked himself - they usually don’t charge double the price you have offered to get them to serve it to you. Try this once and you too will be hooked!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask, on this occasion in the Holly Bush NW3 on Lakshmi’s birthday. When well kept (recurring Fullers theme?) this stuff is awesome. Deep reddish leather colour, thin head. Great balance. Powerful malt with some boozy sweetness, but no burn. tangy hops, marmelade, floral notes, modest bitterness. Syrupy texture. I really like it. The problem is I most often see it when on something of a longer session and its really dangerous if you have too many! On this visit I was able to sink a couple and head home to bed, glorious!

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask in London. Clear copper-brown appearance with medium white head. Nose offers caramel, oranges, cherries and redcurrents. Taste is robust fruity caramel malts with an assertive hop bitterness that satisfies. Medium body with oily texture. One to sip and savour.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at The Red Lion, Piccadilly, London. Copper. Uneven beige head. Moderate aroma of caramel. Fruity taste, also with caramel. English hops both in aroma and taste. Fine aftertaste. I have, however, tasted Fuller’s ESB from cask in better condition.
