4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Joeh (2036) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 23, 2004 Cask Conditioned. The Bell, High Wycombe. General Havelock, Loudwater. Queens Head, Wallingford. Not too bitter and with a good flavour. Tastes strong but not unpleasantly so. This review taken from notes written a couple of years ago, I have had it many times since and will write a better review when I can.

From my cak conditioned campaign. This is a beer I’ve enjoyed. Not as much as I used to with all the IPA’s and whatnot, but this one was very pleasant. My girlfriend ordered the pint and had to give it up after I kept going back to it.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2006 Handpump at ’The Sanctuary’, Tothill str, London UK. Slightly hazy, dark copper red with a bronze hue, minimal lacy beige head. A subtle but wonderful fruity aroma with pears and prunes. Taste: mellow, malty, light sweetish, light alcoholic, sherry, again fruity with prunes. Long and dry, yet gentle, bitter aftertaste. A bit ’slippery’, soapy, but a good body.
4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 YK23 (465) - Haifa, ISRAEL - SEP 15, 2006
What a wounderfull and refreshing beer, clean and bitter with some grape like sweetness at the begining, full body, dry finish, my bitter of choise, addicting stuff.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Phatz (225) - Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 6, 2006
I stopped at Quips Pub in Lancaster and had this beer on-cask along side a traditional Fish-n-Chips dinner. What an enjoyable experience. This beer tastes very clean and a bit light but not overly thin. Just cool and refreshing. It is a mild beer and it was a good choice to accompany my dinner. On the breakdown
Appearance: Served in a pint glass. The bar was dimly lit but it looked like it was a light amber brown, semi translucent, and it had a small creamy head. It remained nice and frothy the entire duration of the beer.
Smell: I did not get much smell (it was served to me cold and I assume based on the tatse that there was probably more aroma possible if it had warmed up more). I did get a little bit of smooth hop and a gentle malty sort of thickness in the nose.
Taste: Beautifully balanced bitter and mild sweet flavors. The slight bitter hop is so gentle that I would not call it a bite, only an attribute. There were clear suggestions of the sugars beside the hops. The aftertaste was malty sweet and only mildly bitter.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth and full of flavor with a big body. Still, it is crisp on the swallow and very refreshing.
Drinkability: This beer is so mild on the palate and so well balanced it is as drinkable of a beer if this style, as I’ve ever had. It is very sessionable. It stands well on it’s own and also, because it is so balanced it doesn’t impair your palate to enjoy your dinner either. Very good choice. I highly recommend Fuller’s ESB.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2008 Deep copper brown colour with a small, quickly vanishing head. Strong hoppy smell. Taste is dominated by hoppy bitterness but has also some roasty sweet malty elements and a hint of caramel and fruits. Quite long aftertaste.
Update 4.6.2008: (Real Ale) Quite round mouthfeel maybe due the low carbonation. Notes of berries too. Aftertaste has also a bit of toffee. Omg this is good.

Cask at the Bishop on the Bridge, Winchester. Lovely copper colour, no head, minimal carbonation. Moderate aroma, initial mellow flavour, then a dominant but pleasant hoppiness. A very good beer.

Aroma gives fruit and malt but not overpowering a bit of floural hops also. Taste is similar, a bit or spicey really fruity but really well balanced and in top condition too. One of my favourate beers from sweden.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KnutAlbert (4613) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 4, 2007
Nutty, very full flavour, some toffee, balanced by grassy hops which end up making this one of the most balanced and flavourful pints of cask ale to be found in London.

On tap at Chaucer’s Pub, London, ON. Pours medium amber, medium off-white head. Aroma is of malt and spicy floral hops. Beautifully balanced between the smooth, sweet malt and the lightly bitter blend of hops. A great pint.
