COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular.
First brewed in 1969 as Winter Bitter - renamed Extra Special Bitter in 1971.
Ingredients: Pale Ale and Crystal malts; Target, Challenger, Northdown and Goldings hops. Dry hopped in the brewery.
CAMRA Supreme Champion 1978, 1981 and 1985.
Brewed at 5.5% ABV in cask and 5.9% ABV in bottle, ESB is a true liquid legend, and should be savoured as such.
ESB has a wonderful rich mahogany appearance. Taking in the nose, the beer is bursting with cherry and orange, balanced by soft malty toffee and caramel notes. The flavour delivers everything you would expect from such a full-bodied ale. The unique blend of Northdown, Target, Challenger and Goldings hops imparts grassy, peppery notes on the tongue along with intense citrus fruit characters of grapefruits, oranges and lemons. The blend of Pale Ale and Crystal malts in the brew give a biscuity, toffee element to the beer. A smooth, mellow bitterness lingers on the palate to give a superbly satisfying finish.

NOTE: Most Fullerís beer in the US is served by handpump kegs and not a cask. Ask your server.

Cask conditioned at the brewery. Grain aroma with very soft notes of coffee and caramel. Well bodied, malty flavor, liquorice, hops, creamy toffee. Strong flavored beer with a strong British character. Very good, Iíve really enjoyed it:

It is a good english ale which is nice to drink. It pours in a red toasted colour with a white head. Even though it has a good taste, it has nothing special. A good english ale anyway.

Cask. Golden with white head. Aroma is a little buttery, banana and caramel. Taste of banana, toffee and biscuit, banoffee if you will. Little sweet, little thin, little bitter. Drinkable and decent enough

Poured copper with creamy head that quickly dissipated. Full malt with complex fruitly esters and earthy hop bitterness. Caramel diacydal mouth feel on this pour. Nicely balanced ale. On tap at the Breadalbane in Fergus Ontario.

On tap in Beergeek bar. Copper colour with very stable white head. Hoppy aroma. Taste is a mix of sweet caramel and floral hops. I will try it again to re-rete if it is so legendary...

From tap. Dark amber with virtually no head. Aroma is an inviting mix of dark bread and caramel with notes of spices and dried fruit. Taste is full, rich and spicy. Notes of dark toast and spicy fruit. Slight bitterness in the finish and low on CO2, as it should. Great beer!
