dalek123 (35), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2009 Pours deep copper with a fluffy with head. Taste is malt, with notes of toffee and a mild hop finish. Taste is full of character and subtle at the same time. You are struck with the feeling that this is what an ESB should be. Classic, elegant, and memorable. rustbucket0873 (141), Krikville, New York, USA Jul 4, 2009 the color is an amber color, with a fluffy tan head. the aroma is malt, citrus, caramel. the taste is carmael, and toasted flavors with a ever slight bitterness finish. charlotte (1796), Vanløse, Denmark Jun 29, 2009 Can.Amber colour with off-white head.Aroma is smooth with taste of nuts and toffee carmel.Flavor is tosted and well balanced with nice dry finish. gilvanblight (377), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Jun 20, 2009 Rusty coppery pour with a thin head. AmEricanbrew (1493), Port-Au-Shreve, Louisiana, USA Jun 19, 2009 Bright amber color with a fleeting head. Nice toasted caramel aroma with spicy hops. Smooth medium body. Sweet caramel malty flavor with lightly bitter finish. beerchugger (216), Colorado, USA Jun 19, 2009 Pours a deep copper color with a thin off-white head that didn’t last. The aroma was rather vinuous and caramely. The carbonation was rather flat. Sweet caramel malts dominated the flavor and it was barely bitter. It was just too sweet. Fresca aggiungerei. RHeastings (218), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 13, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a deep copper to nearly brown, with a slight white head that disappears relatively quickly. The aroma was absolutely unbelievable; a melange of malt complexity. I got notes of low crystal-type caramel sweetness, and some toffee or a very light molasses. The palate followed these aromas up with an awesome pairing of malty sweetness and just enough backend bitterness to allow the beer to be easily drinkable without any sort of cloying note. An awesome example of the style. I can see why it is emulated throughout the brewing world.
