33cl bottle. @L´Artesana, La Felguera. 27-09-2015.
In short: robust malty ale.
Pours quite clear deep gold- light copper, with nice offwhite head. Short head retention, some lacing. Malty, caramel, fruity nose. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is quite sweet, fruity, malty, little toast and biscuits. Warm mouthfeel, alcohol noticed. English yeast characterfull. Well balanced, rounded. A quite strong malty ale.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Not a bad brew for 8.5% alc. Pours amber with slight head, not much carbonation. Medium to full body. Quite sweet with some bitter notes.
Sweet caramel, with malts, and brown sugar, a hint of herbs, fruits, and overall a nice strong ale.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Bottle) Clear amber brown with short-lived thin tan head. Pleasant but subtle aroma - toffee with some tangy fruity hints. Full bodied with good carbonation. Amazing, rich, complex taste. Rich sweet malt is the most prominent flavour with strong notes of molasses, toffee, raisins, dates with subtler notes emerging in the mid-palate of orange and spice, and some bite and bitterness in the finish. Very impressive beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. BB 04.2016. Pours a deep coppery amber with a good creamy head leaving some lace. Very nice malty, toasty, marmalady sweet aroma with a bit of red berry sourness, caramel, and a touch of alcohol coming through. Tastes sweeeet, I get jam and marmalade, toasty and nutty notes, as well as a touch of burnt caramel. It’s mostly just malts - there’s only a bit of finishing bitterness. Carbonation thin and not very active. It’s a touch shy of a good barley wine - a bit too thin and lacking boldness. It’s, let’s say, a somewhat mellow and lean for that (with all due respect). Might improve with aging - will go ahead and try with another bottle. It is very good as it is though.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sweet malt aroma and a taste that is close up to English barley wine. Vinous is a little pronounced, but it has great flavor shades of soft fruits together with malt, characterizes towards a barley. The large group of beer that British denotes strong ales can vary very much in their expression. Therefore, it is almost impossible to set a standard for what is kind of right for strong ales. Fuller has once again branded English ale in a good way with this Golden Pride. It is simply its own and can not be compared with other strong ales. With elegant soft rounded aftertaste where little hoppy bitterness is present to maintain the good taste of summer berries far in the aftertaste, it is a fine ale. I can not get it expressed often enough, but have to say that if Fuller’s logo is on the label, you can confidently put it in the basket. Fuller is the provider of good quality beer, and it applies to everything that is brewed from there.
