COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

TBone (9997) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 7, 2004
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2009 Bottled
Dark copper brown. Small brown head. Crisp, menthol nose like in Fuller’s Old Winter Ale. Medium-bodied. Coffee, salt, hops in well-balanced taste. Good but not a typical barley wine like it was styled in an advertisement. (6/4/7/4/14 3.5)
Re-rate, bottled (BB 02/2010). Clear amber color, steady creamy beige head. Strong aroma of toffee, nuts, menthol and lemon. Thick, caramelly, alcholic, nutty malty with toffee and dark fruits. Long alcoholic aftertaste. Hard to enjoy so much as drinkability is poor. (6/4/6/3/12 3.1)

Very clear red amber with little bubbles. A nice foamy yellowish head. Hoppy aroma with a little caramel. Very full mouthfeel. A little vinious. A burnt feeling with some toffee. A little plums as well. Warming and pleasant.

Dry ale. Immediate sweet porty tones mixed with malt and a hint of brandy. Lingering bittersweet finish. More dry malt and a hint of hops. Nice!

Dark amber, little head. Aroma of apples, malt, pipe tobacco and caramel. Rich, malty flavour, quite sweet, with some bitterness in the finish. You can sense the alcohol, but it’s not overwhelming.

Maria (9631) - Thisted, DENMARK - APR 1, 2007
Dark amber and a creamy, nice head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and dark fruits. The flavour is rich, full, smooth, malty, fruity and full with a nice bitterness, that develops further in the finish. A beer that is worthy of it’s name.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Light malty-sweetness and moderate bitter vry well-balanced flavor. Long nice finish. Creamy palate. Much better than many barleywines......

Fruity, malty aroma. Dried fruit. Purple fruit. Deep coppery amber color. Head disipated quickly. Flavor is alcohol, malt, American port, and fruit. Hops persist to the finish, but then the malt remains strong. It’s really nice. It’s confusing. It suddenly occurs to me that there is a sort of roughness, similar to Fullers 1845. Maybe this is 1845 on steroids. Hope it gets shipped to the states. And why is this denominated "Golden"?

Bottle. Amber color. Plum jam in the aroma. Malty sweet, slightly earthy flavor with dried plums and marmelade. Nutmeg in the aftertaste. Likeable.

madsberg (8939) - Søborg, DENMARK - DEC 8, 2004
Bottled: Clear amber coloured. Beige dense head. Spices (vanilla), nuts and malt in the aroma. Flavour is sweet and furity and feels rather creamy. Marzipan notes. Alcahol is very dominant in the short as well as the long run. Is quite onedimensional imo. Something about this beer, I dont like. Probably the immense alcahol taste.
