Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: í deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.í Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: íthe Cognac of beersí.

Clear, amber beer with a small white head. Some sweetness on the nose, peach. The body is medium plus. Mouth feel is soft and round. Alcohol warms things up. Sweet caramel, malts, slight and round bitterness, a hint of berries. Very good.

Bottle. Alcohol aroma is apparent from the pour, which is red brown with a rapidly diminishing head. Taste is malty with some orange, a slight bitterness and a finishing alcohol burn.

AGAquino (665) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 22, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2010 500ml bottle bought in Port of Spain, West Bees supermarket. Pours reddish amber with foamy white head and some, not lasting lace. Aroma of malty dried fruits, slight hoppy bitter and candy. Flavour is thick with traces of sweet malts, toffee, and sugar. Alcohol is noticeable but subtle. Nice lingering aftertaste. Most probably, the best beer available in Trinidad.

Ruby at the top, light amber at the bottom; still, with no head at all; aroma of marmalade / Christmas cake; lots of stewed orangey fruit which was fairly muted at first, but became progressively pronounced and toothsome as the drink went on; reminded me of Bush Ambree in that sense; the alcohol isnít hidden - this is a warming brew; I had this on cask once at The Whale in Buckingham - it was pretty mind blowing in 1996 and is still excellent bottled in 2013.

Deep rusty copper hue with a creamy off white head. Fruity, toffee nose. Sweetish toffee like taste with fruit and raisins. Very barley wine like, well balanced. A decent ale just a bit sweet for a session.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Pours reddish amber with a very little head. Aroma features most sweetish dark fruitiness with dried fruity notes, especially raisin. Also berries and maltier elements, such as caramel, bread and toffee, are around. Taste is light sweet, initially very fruity, later maltier. The finish is moderately hoppy, dryish and light bitter - very British. The palate is medium to full bodied, mouthfeel slick and smooth. Alcohol is hidden well. Could offer more in terms of hoppy notes, but still a nice, well balanced winter warmer.

Nice amber color with a thin white head. Nose is caramel and raisin. Aromas are caramel, pine, roasted malts and alcohol. Nice hoppy bitter and sweet finish. Low carbonation, strong body. Well-balanced, powerful and aromatic strong ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
