3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml Bottle. Red/Brown, small white head. Malty, sweet aroma. Perhaps plum, raisin. Very tasty, only negative point is that perhaps the alcohol is not disguised as well as it could, so by the end of the bottle it was tasting rather stronger than many other decent strong ales.

Bottle, 500ml. Pours a clear copper colour with a modest head that fades quickly. Aroma is of sweet malts and dry fruits, strong and intense. Taste is heavy and complex, very drinkable with lots of character. Great, strong finish. One of Fuller’s best.

500ml bottle. Served at room temperature. Pours clear red gold and looks great. Head doesn’t last long but that’s ok. Smells awesome. Aroma is of something similar to sherry. Sweet and warm (spices), alcoholic, fruity and malty. Initial taste is smooth, well balanced, alcoholic, warming spices, sweet, fruity. Malty taste comes through with butterscotch or some kind of creamy caramel desert. I would pick this as a desert beer or it could easily compliment a dish which required a bit of smooth fruity sweetness. Good work. Drank this on a cold summer’s windy evening in Wellington. Almost 9pm and the sun is still out.

Pale tawny in colour with a faint aroma of mainly alcohol but a little malt in there too. Quite sweet and malty but surprisingly gentle in flavour with just enough bitterness in the finish to keep it from being bland. Not the best strong ale I’ve ever tried but still very pleasant on a cold winter’s evening.

A lovely golden colour, with just the right amount of carbonation. To me, this is how beer should look. Smells great too. It didnt taste at all as i expected, as its slight sweetness combines superbly with its depth and strength. You wouldnt drink gallons of it, but its taste is absolutley fantastic.

Sötmandel, kryddor och dadlar. Smakrik, maltig men humlefattig. Så vad vi har här är en välgjord men karaktärslös brygd
