COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

Clean dark amber color, small beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, dried fruits, nuts, honey, spicy hops. Sweet and mildly bitter taste with hoppy finish and sweet malty aftertaste. Medium body and average carbonation. Quite good English strong ale.

Appearance- quite clear, dark orangey amber, a small beige bubbly head which disappears quickly. Aroma- orangey, marmalade, raisin hints, malt, tangerine, fruity, a bit of hops. Taste- fairly full bodied, lots of zesty, orange fruit flavours, marzipan hints, sugary marmalade, smooth and delicious. Excellent.

Golden amber in colour, with a good head. Has a rather earthy aroma with rich malt. A med-full palate with malt sweetness balanced by firm bitterness. A rich mouthfeel that lingers.

Bottle, 500ml. Pours a clear copper colour with a modest head that fades quickly. Aroma is of sweet malts and dry fruits, strong and intense. Taste is heavy and complex, very drinkable with lots of character. Great, strong finish. One of Fuller’s best.

500mL bottle from Regionals. Pours a red/orange hue with a tan head which dissipates quickly.
A very sweet nose on this one. Lots of brown sugar like a barley wine but has some raisin fruitiness.
Flavour is quite complex. Initially sweet, along with some raisin. Sweetness is balanced mid way with a good bitterness. A very mouth filling beer, and there is a bit of spiciness right near the finish which is long and bitter.
This is like a very drinkable barley wine. It would be interesting to try this freshly brewed, so the hops can flourish more.

Caramel, bread, dried fruits, brown sugar, grains and grass in the aroma. Amber with a white head. Medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body with a soft carbonation. Overall a rich flavoured and well balanced brew with some warming alcohol in the finish.

Pasteurised bottle from Sainsbury’s. Amber orange colour. Aroma vinous, spice, alcohol. Mouthfeel a little syrupy. Dry finish. Alcohol a little too evident in the mix.

This beer was really just so moderate in every regard that it is hard to find words to properly describe it. Medium bodied, moderate malty aroma, moderate bitterness, medium length aftertaste, mildly alcoholic flavour, fairly smooth. It was well made, no doubt, but without strong character.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a deep amber color with a mediumsized white head, minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee, honey, fruit candy, dried fruits and some plums. Flavour is fruity and malty sweet with clear toffee and honey notes together with some spicy hops. Medium bitterness in the finish. Mediumbodied on the palate, slightly oily and quite smooth, the carbonation is soft. A nice sipper, maybe not that complex but overall quite tasty and definitely priceworthy.
