3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(BBE 21/11/09 @ May 22nd 2009)
Amber, little head. Strong malty aroma, even whisky-like with the alcohol. Not too sweet, strong malty flavor, some caramel. Slightly bitter in the finish. Easy to drink considering the ABV.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a clear copper amber. Off white head that fades to fine lace fast. Fruity hop caramel aroma. Taste is bit sweet caramel brown sugar. Medium carbonation and body. Smooth, pretty well rounded. Finish is clean and sweet, earthy grainy. Lacks bitterness. Okay brew. Nothing special. I doubt if I would drink it again.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A nutty fruity aroma. Pours a burnt amber colour with tan head. A malty, hoppy citrus fruit flavour. Smooth on the palate, building up to a fine finish. However, I think the Fullers 1845 has the edge on this one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear amber/orange/brown liquid, pours a creamy white/tanned sleek head. I have drank this beer throughout my life of tasting beers. The first time it, of course, was very strong and strong in alcoholic content by the taste. Since then Iíve had it many times and changed my opinion. But it has always been a good beer. The aromascape is full with malt accompanied by caramel, fruit, orange, alcohol, wood, cognac/whisky.. a very unique and somewhat mystic blend. The bitterness is extremely crispy and leveled, and the sweetness finishes of the taste with a tingle. The body is medium but feels really full in context. The texture is surprisingly thin in reality compared to what the entirety feels like with its fullness. A very, very good beer from Fullers. There are not that many of these kind of beers around, and even in those circles it is a very unique one.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours amber with a offwhite head. Aroma is peasoup hops. Flavor has peasoup hops and bitter malts. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth being the single good thing about this ale. After warming the sweetness is over the top with raisins, making the score a bit lower.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Strong and balanced. I could taste some bread. The carbonation is soft and the finish is abrupt and dry.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A nose of chewing gum and green apple. The beer pours a dark reddish color, not so much foam. Taste is apples, toffee, butter and alcohol. Itís reminiscent of both Old Tom and Nils Oscar Barley Wine, in a way. The beer is a good sipper, but Iíve had better.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle from Waitrose, Wymondham) Dark brown with very little head, what is left is an off white colour. Smell is plums, red fruit, with some dark malt, alcohol, cherries - very fragrant. Taste is strong rich dark red fruit with alcohol body and a little carbonation. Sweet, syrupy, but not overpowering. Not particularly bitter. A great strong ale.
