COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: í deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.í Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: íthe Cognac of beersí.

Lovely hoppy aroma, sweetness there too. Strenght of this brew is apparent in the taste but the malt backs the old man alcohol down and the bitter end high fives you like a champ. Almost too easy to drink and woo then you are drunk. But who is complaining, this is good stuff.

Amber with little head. Aroma sweet honey, malt. Taste sweet fruit, malty caramel, licorice, alcohol. Medium body, text thick, carb fizzy, finish long bitterness.

Bottle. Copper colour, thin head. Bready, malty aroma with some caramel. Sweet, full, syrupy mouthfeel. More caramel in the flavour along with a lingering bitterness and some alcohol in the finish. Nice.

50cl bottle: Reddish brown colour with a vanishing head. Very malty aroma with hints of oxidation, yeast and herbal and tobacco-like hoppiness. The mouthfeel is really full, in the flavour, thereís a big cookie-and-caramel-type sweetness, which is okay but bordering on becoming cloying - and thatís an adjective I donít use inflationary. I mean, if you canít stand sweetness in a beer, you should probably avoid this. I thought it was actually a pretty decent sipper. There was a nice "british" hoppiness and slight roastiness to counteract a little.

A good brew, howerever it has a bitterness I donít appreciate. It is sweet, and has an asprin-like bitterness.

Dark brown color with thick tan head. Sweet fruity aroma of dried apricots, plums and toffee. Heavy flavor with lots of fruit and toffee sweetness. Thick syrupy mouthfeel. A cognac-like feeling to this reminds me of the Thomas Hardy Ale.

Sweetish, caramel, vinous, slightly spicy aroma and flavour. Warming alcoholic mouth feel and full bodied. Mildly bitter flavour and finish.

Pours a deep amber with a yellow-white head which lows quickly, leaving a circle of lacing around the rim of the glass. Aroma is malty with vanilla, marmalade, and an artificial banana sweetness. Alcohol is present in the nose. Taste is sugary orange, vanilla, a light zest and pepperiness, bread and brandy. Mouth feel is sticky and creamy, leaves a good covering on the palate. Finish is a bit too sweet and doesnít develop on the flavours. More hops would have been good to counter some of the sweetness, but as a desert sipper this is a good beer. A little raw with the alcohol considering itís only 8.5%, but for the price and availability, itís well worth it.

500ml bottle. Served at room temperature. Pours clear red gold and looks great. Head doesnít last long but thatís ok. Smells awesome. Aroma is of something similar to sherry. Sweet and warm (spices), alcoholic, fruity and malty. Initial taste is smooth, well balanced, alcoholic, warming spices, sweet, fruity. Malty taste comes through with butterscotch or some kind of creamy caramel desert. I would pick this as a desert beer or it could easily compliment a dish which required a bit of smooth fruity sweetness. Good work. Drank this on a cold summerís windy evening in Wellington. Almost 9pm and the sun is still out.

Exactly like a Cognac but a beer. Amber in color, good carbonation, very malty but dry, almost no presence of hops, but balanced. Some orange. bread. Loved the balance of this beer.
