COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: í deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.í Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: íthe Cognac of beersí.

Pours red-amber with a quick light brown head. Nose is quite sweet and dominated by brown sugar and apples. Flavor is a bit more tame and a little on the generic side for English ales, but is quite drinkable. Alcohol does not factor. Decent stuff.

Bottle from Csak a jů sŲr. Poured ruby-red, with a tan, creamy lacing foam. Honey, caramel, plum, raisins, yeast, and perhaps some herbs in the nose. There is a slight citrusy hint lurking somewhere in there, but the (delicious) hops kind of overpower it. Medium dense, oily, medium carbonated. Alcohol well hidden, with a sweet, roasty aftertaste that lasts. Pretty good!

Bottle at home. Deep amber pour, thick white head. Aroma is fruity, some caramel, nuts and toffee. Flavor is thick malty, somewhat fruity and well balanced. A bit simple. Nice brew.

Bottle. Amber color. Plum jam in the aroma. Malty sweet, slightly earthy flavor with dried plums and marmelade. Nutmeg in the aftertaste. Likeable.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2014 I tasted this a few months after "Fullers Past Masters XX Strong Ale" - still the same joy. Iím beginning to feel that English strong ales or strong ales as a whole is worth attention, my attention, it this case after IPAs. Very fruity, sweet, dense (if dense goes under taste tab :) )taste, very aromatic with an exact amount of bitterness. Really enjoyed it. As a bonus comes those rocket earth-sky launching 8.5% degrees :)

0.5L bottle Spirits&Wine, Spice, Riga Beautiful and dangerously delicious brew. A bit more caramel flavor and body/alco - and it would be a barleywine. Gentle hopping level with enought malt sweetness to allow yeast produced fruity esters to shine. Pleasant, sweet, light caramel, candy like aroma with semisweet taste pattern. No long lasting aftertaste, a bit alcohol comes out at the end but mild sweetness and gentle, velvety texture is not suposed to be sipping brew, drinkability level- medium to high. Clear, more ambery than coppery in color, small, beige frothy top. Liked.

Pale tawny in colour with a faint aroma of mainly alcohol but a little malt in there too. Quite sweet and malty but surprisingly gentle in flavour with just enough bitterness in the finish to keep it from being bland. Not the best strong ale Iíve ever tried but still very pleasant on a cold winterís evening.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Clear deep amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of, well, cognac, quite sharp, light sweet malts, subtle fruit notes, but not very sweet, light caramel. Flavour is light sweet, malty, vinous, white grapes, cognac, toasted malts, bitter orange peel, decent hoppy bitterness underneath and in the finish. Medium-bodied, oily mouthfeel.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours clear amber in color with an whitish head. Red berries, alcohol and sweetness in aroma. A bit dry mouthfeel. Was afraid that the alcohol would be coming through in taste, but instead the flavor is overtaken by toffee, some mild berries and grains, which is nice. Sweet finish.
