COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: í deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.í Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: íthe Cognac of beersí.

suurjuust (1550) - ESTONIA - APR 5, 2015
Clear amber orange, small off-white head. Nose is malty, fruity and spice notes, touch of alcohol. Flavor is dense malt and caramel, almost chewy, some fruity notes. Finish has a nice Goldings bitterness and an alcohol bite. Lingering caramel and malt, boozy warmth. Lots of alcohol, but it balances out.

more like a doppelbock than an english strong. big, sticky and malty, with a touch of grapefruit, pineapple and spice from the hops lurking in the background. very pretty red colour with nice offwhite head. balanced, yes. interesting, no.

Bottled: Clear amber coloured. Beige dense head. Spices (vanilla), nuts and malt in the aroma. Flavour is sweet and furity and feels rather creamy. Marzipan notes. Alcahol is very dominant in the short as well as the long run. Is quite onedimensional imo. Something about this beer, I dont like. Probably the immense alcahol taste.

larsga (6523) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 5, 2006
Small shiny white creamy head; brown body. Sweetish caramelly oily aroma with notes of burnt almonds. Sweet powerful licorice and caramel taste with alcohol notes. Dry oily caramel finish. A good bit of alcohol heat. Burnt almond taste lingers. Nice, but very unusual for an English beer. Something earthy and slightly cloying in the taste detracts a bit. (0.33l bottle.)

TheGrandMaster (2334) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 25, 2007
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2008 Bottle, pours a strong and bright amber colour with an off-white foamy head. A strong malty aroma, caramal and vinuous, with a whiff of aniseed at the end. A thick vinuous and sweet flavour at first, bready malt through the swallow, and then woody and warming licorice flavours in the finish. Doesnít drink like its 8.5%, but this is a big beer that you would struggle to drink a lot of (and could do with coming in a smaller bottle IMO).
