Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2015 Very enjoyable. Too strong to session but a very good ale to sip. Aroma is dark fruit , oranges, and malt. Taste is again oranges . I also get brown bread , nuts and malt. Great finish also. It tops my ratebeer account for a reason. it is the best of the best. I just wish it was more available in Taiwan.

Dark brownish orange, small silky orange tinted white head. Nice sweet malt and fruit aroma. taste is excellent - sweet, citrus, biscuit, lots of hops in finish. Very smooth silky mouthfeel. Dangerously easy to drink. Wow, an eye opener, maybe my favourite yet from this masters series we have on our shelves this Holiday season.

Finom. Milyen lehet frissen csapról? Hmmm...

Bottle, 500ml. Pours a clear copper colour with a modest head that fades quickly. Aroma is of sweet malts and dry fruits, strong and intense. Taste is heavy and complex, very drinkable with lots of character. Great, strong finish. One of Fuller’s best.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2013 Bottle @ home. Poured dark amber/caramel colour with an off-white head. Strong malty caramel overtones in the flavour. Not overly hoppy. Underlying warmth from the alcohol. A satisfying experience

Sweet malt aroma and a taste that is close up to English barley wine. Vinous is a little pronounced, but it has great flavor shades of soft fruits together with malt, characterizes towards a barley. The large group of beer that British denotes strong ales can vary very much in their expression. Therefore, it is almost impossible to set a standard for what is kind of right for strong ales. Fuller has once again branded English ale in a good way with this Golden Pride. It is simply its own and can not be compared with other strong ales. With elegant soft rounded aftertaste where little hoppy bitterness is present to maintain the good taste of summer berries far in the aftertaste, it is a fine ale. I can not get it expressed often enough, but have to say that if Fuller’s logo is on the label, you can confidently put it in the basket. Fuller is the provider of good quality beer, and it applies to everything that is brewed from there.

Bottle. Pours beautiful golden copper with an off white head that leaves lots of lacing. Nose is very mild but you can detect notes of toffee, brown sugar and a hint of whisky. Flavour is quite similar to the aroma with aded malt, butter, honey and a little woodiness. Mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy and those are excellent words to describe this beer, as well as outstanding, beautiful and delicious.

Heavy brown 500ml bottle into pint glass. Pour is clear copper coloured with a thick collar of cream/yellow-tinged foam that laces nicely. Strong enticing richly treacly and roasted malt aromas with a hint of alcohol. Flavour is rich medium sweet malts with a bittersweet hop finish. Lovely velvety smooth mouthfeel with a medium to full body and low carbonation. ABV very well hidden (danger!). Another winner from this excellent brewery.

Bottle. A - Coppery caramel brown with an average sized foamy white head. Really good retention, especially considering the ABV, that leaves a nice foamy layer of lacing. S - Some caramel smelling malt serves as a springboard for golden fruit (particularly apple, but some pear too) and some floral and tea like hop aromas. A hint of honey in the background along with a hint of breadiness. Alcohol is just barely present. T - Similar to the nose. Strong malt presences creates the base for this beer with a lot of caramel and bready flavors coming out. Interplaying with each other are golden fruit (apple, pear, golden raisin) and floral/tea hops. They wax and wane throughout the sip. Also present in the background is some honey, butterscotch, spiced, and nutty (more sweet than earthy) flavors. M - Medium body with slightly above average carbonation. Pretty smooth. D - Great drinkability. The alcohol is very well hidden and the flavors are well balanced and none of them overpower the others. Easy on the palate and pretty tasty (dangerously so for the ABV). Notes: Best before 01/01/11. A solid beer that is a good example of an English Strong Ale. A touch on the sweet side, but it has enough to counterbalance that. Dangerously easy to drink given the ABV. It didn’t necessarily blow me away, but it is definitely worth getting a deserve a place near the top as far as English Strong Ales are concerned.
