3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Drink by date in July, drinking it in September - oops! Nice clear reddish-golden with a strong white head. Aroma is big and quite sweet - lots of toffee and lightly stewed peaches, some sweet orange peel and a bit of lightly toasted sugar. Body is full but not cloying. Flavour starts as sweet as the aroma suggests, with toffee/caramel and peach candy prominent, along with a bit of corn syrup and raisin bread, and even a hint of baked spiced apple. It dries out a bit toward the finish, which is moderately bitter, but I suspect the hops wouldíve been a bit bigger and provided more balance when it was fresher. But even with some age on it, itís a really pleasant beer that nicely straddles the line between strong ale and barley wine.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The looks are super pin bright deep mahogany dark red, gentle carbonation, creamy thin head. Aroma is sweetish boozy port-like with some toffee. Taste is sweet caramel boozyness, very soft and round. A tad too sweet for my personal taste. A proper Christmas ale in front of a fire place while reading some anorak-themed book. Lovely.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bel cappello di schiuma bianca, liquido limpido con la giusta carbonazione. Naso liquoroso, corpo morbido e avvoltato, predominanza di malti dolci. Finale con una punta di amaro, retrogusto equilibrato. Ottima birra alla spina.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Caramel, bread, dried fruits, brown sugar, grains and grass in the aroma. Amber with a white head. Medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body with a soft carbonation. Overall a rich flavoured and well balanced brew with some warming alcohol in the finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
My English rating # 100! This classic would suit. 50 cl. bottle poured in to a Snifter. Clear, deep amber colour with a reddish tine. Thin, creamy off-white head. Good looking, actually. Fruity aroma with oranges, tangerine, bread, toasted malts, dried fruits and a grass-like bitterness. Some alcohol. Rather rich and malty. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body with a creamy to oily texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes slightly dry with rich fruits and malts. Lovely, classic brew.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Waitrose. Curiously ugly bottle, actually. Glorious deep copper coloured beer. Strong brute of a beer, lots of sweetish boozy malt, barely matched with enough hop bitterness. Some Fullers house character, the yeast and maybe hop blend. Drinks easier than 8.5%, but really sits on your head afterwards. I enjoyed it.

Lovely strong ale with enough character and flavour to make the alcohol strength indiscernible. This is a solid beer, a íGate-Keeperí for the íStrong Aleí category..
