3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pale tawny in colour with a faint aroma of mainly alcohol but a little malt in there too. Quite sweet and malty but surprisingly gentle in flavour with just enough bitterness in the finish to keep it from being bland. Not the best strong ale I’ve ever tried but still very pleasant on a cold winter’s evening.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A clear dark amber colour with a white head. Aroma of roasted malt, honey and fruits with a flavour to match. The alcohol comes through for a nice finish.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
0.33l bottle. Deep orange body, nice beige head. Caramelly aroma with lots of fruityness and a minimal roastyness. Lots of caramel, some chocolate, reisin and bread with lots of fruity hoppyness in the flavor. Big body. It’s like a double IPA. Awesome beer!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled: Very full malty aroma, dark dried fruits, toffee, light roasty, caramel. Notes of sherry. Brown color, quickly diminishing head. Flavor is full bodied, malty, sweet, alcoholic, moderate bitter and with a heavy fruitiness of oily citrus fruits. Roasty components, bitter hop flavors. Nice and well balanced.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cellar temperature and into a snifter (bottle conditioned). Vibrant, syrupy and oily looking, fiery copper with little evident carbonation. Head little more than a wafer of white that was desperate to stay afloat, Aroma is dominated by caramelised citrus, honey, toffee and fresh baked white bread with just a hint of vanillin and sherry. Initial boozy warmth sets in with the first sip. Brings along a drenching citrus burst that is sticky and sweet along with notes of butterscotch, caramel and dates. Bready otherwise; the body awkward but not as heavy as expected. Finish is far too warming for a beer of 8.5% ABV. Pretty bland overall. A real disappointment. Taattua Fuller’s laatua.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle, bbe 21/12/2012. Pours a clear mahogany brown with a fast receding, bubbly, cream colored head that leaves a little lace on the edges. Aroma is sweet, caramel, a little fig and dried fruit. Taste is sweet malt, overripe fruit, a little alcohol and earthy hops. Medium to low carbonation, mouthfeel is a little on the thin side. Decent, though not wholly interesting.
