COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly bottle conditioned; Special. Has been seen on cask.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

Svart med et tynt brunt skumlag. Lukter kaffe og alkohol, svisker, sjokolade og litt fruktig. Kremaktig munnfÝlelse, kraftig og god. Lite bitterhet, men lang og god ettersmak av kaffe.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out unmistakeable English malt, some black licorice, and subtle dark dried fruits. Flavour is intensely fruity, with loads of dark dried fruits - think dates, figs, plum, and raisins - along with some licorice, English malt and roast. The flavours are fairly harsh and not really that complementary, but itís certainly a unique flavour profile here. Drinkable, but a bit harsh and not very elegant. Decent English impie stout.

Svart farge med beige skum. Skummet forsvinner raskt. Aroma av alkohol, svisker, sjokolade og kaffe. Har god fylde og man kjenner kaffe godt i ettersmak og er gsŚ medium bitter.

Thanks Hoser. I should get out more. Dark malt, fruity notes, molasses, sugary edges. Some booze but not boozy. Enjoyable sipper but it wants to be consumed faster so pace yourself. Some earthy herbs in the finish.

Bottle, 13C. Black with a light tan head that retreats to the rim. Roasty aroma with molasses, cherries, figs, chocolate. Oily, carbonation is still a little higher than Iíd like. Bittersweet chocolate, less fruity than suggested by a sniff. A little ashy. Dry, bitter and slightly salty finish that just whisks the heaviness away. Pretty elegant drop.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2014 500ml bottle (Stockmann, Tallinn)
Initial rating, 2014-02 (7:4+:7+:4:15=3.7++). Basically black, dark tight tan head. Lovely full roast, gently sweet, a touch chocolatey, maybe a little cakey, in the aroma. Smooth palate, gentle carbonation.Slightly raw mialty roast, sweetish, some tangy nettly hoppiness, and a birnt bitter bite too. Hint of stale coffee. Covers 10.7% very well. Does feel a bit young, I look forward to having one in 6-9 months time. (bought 4 bottles, so can stagger over time)
Rerate: 500ml bottle - 9 months later, drunk 2014/11 (8:5:7+:5:16-=4.1)
Gorgeous slightly orangy chocolate aroma, absolutely perfect for an imperial stout. Full and rich in the mouth, but not heavy, raw, or heady. Some heavier fruity esters and of course the chocolaty roast in the retronasals. Great roast dominate the taste, lovely hints of earthy bitterness. Beatifully haunting finish, leaves the chocolatey roasty aspects and the dry bitter aspects tantalising as they float around the mouth like beautiful ghosts. Man, that has aged so damn well. Looking forward to the next one in a yearís time.
