cask and bottled, special
Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BBE 2023, at Black Door, 20131115) The beer poured black. Its head was light brown and medium sized. Aroma had liquorice, burnt malts and dark chocolate. Palate was medium bodied and warmign with medium carbonation. Flavours were liquorice, dark chocolate, hops, sweetness, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had burnt malts, liquorice, alcohol and bitterness. Alcohol pushed through a bit too heavily and left an unbalanced feeling. Otherwise a well done brew.

Pours pitch black with average to big top changing color from tan brown to beige creamy, quick one, minimal lasing. Aroma of dark malt, cocoa more than chocolate and dark, dried fruits like cherries or raisins. Taste is sweet, for Imp. Stout itís light bitter and a bit sour ending too. Pleasant mix or malt darkness and fruits semisweetnes. Finish is mild dry, average to full body, slicky, oily texture. Pleasant, decent brew.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival 2013 - Le Gothique. The beer pours oily black-brown with a mellow, creamy brown head. The aroma holds lots of burnt wood, dark chocolate, well roasted malts and burnt marshmallows. Itís medium sweet with a nice torched wood character, subtle pine, dark fruits, rich chocolate and restrained bitterness. Medium to full in body with fine carbonation, the beer rests easy on the palate. It finishes with light dry burnt wood, further rich chocolate, earthy bitterness and more scorched marshmallows. The most impressive thing about the beer is the balance between the intense depth of flavor and itís drinkability; for a 10.5% beer, it was far too easy to drink this beer. This was my favorite of the festival.

Very dark, nearly black but with a slight red tint. Dark beige head that leaves a long lasting thin lid. Pretty smooth chocolaty aroma with cherry liquor overtones. The taste is smooth and roasted with some warming alcohol and a slightly bitter finish with hints of liquorish that seems to take over the more you drink. Low carbonation, decent mouthfeel. Pretty good, but I think it will probably improve with a bit of ageing.

As Fuller Imperial Stout, bb 2023
Black color with brownish head, large and compact. The aroma is very nice, roasted malt, creamy, with milk cream and wood-oven bread. The body is lean, the mouthfeel smooth; good roasted malt flavor, with some firewood, very light smoke presence, and very light liquorice; correct bitterness level; well balanced overall.
Not very emotional nor innovative, yet a solid, clean and well brewed beer.
