Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

Cask gravity at the St Albans beer fest 2014. 12.7% according to the programme. Aroma is nutty, caramel, some trub. Flavour is sweet, caramel, hot alcohol, rough round the edges. Palate is full body, lowish carbonation. Lingering liquorice, and spices. Quite sweet and earthy. Cherry and hot alcohol. Rough round the edges. Big bastard of a beer.

500ml bottle [Though not really important for the beer’s rating, I have to admit, this bottle (and box) comes in noble fashion and is suitable to create a pleasant anticipation in at least exiguous degree, making one imagine being dislocated to formerly British Empire, immersed in a Gentlemen’s club’s bold leather armchair]. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, superbly lacing, beige to tan head. Dark malty, chocolately aroma, hints of cherries, roses, heavy perfume, port, a cautious touch of tobacco, matching anticipations if not (self-)fulfilling prophecies. Taste is initially bitter hoppy and dry dark malty, later chocolately notes with moderate, surpressed sweetness come through, additionally notes of cherries, some floral overtones; increasing sweetness till to the slightly vinous finish. Soft carbonation, soft palate, well hidden alcohol - integrated, holistic, harmonious.

Limited edition cask version (11.7%) at Charlies Bar, Copenhagen - black pour with a good sized tan head. Aroma and taste is dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, treacle, nutty, subtle hoppy nuances throughout, cherry and dark fruit undertones, smooth on the palate. Beautiful.

0,5 pullo@ One pint pub. Cafe latten värinen, hento vaahto. Lähes mustan ruskea, samea. Tuoksussa paahteiset ja makeat maltaat, karvas suklaa, tumma siirappi, hieman tummaa hedelmää ja kirsikkaa. Maussa tummaa mallasta, mämmiä, ruista, tummaa suklaata. Alkoholin tuntee, mutta ei todellakaan hyökkäävästi. Täyteläinen suutuntuma. Tällaisesta stoutista minäkin tykkään!

Bottle as "Fuller’s Imperial Stout", no word about Russia. Very nice packaging, bonus overall points for that. Dark body, medium tall tan head. Aroma has bitter black coffee and old cocoa powder. Mouthfeel is thinner than an average Imperial Stout. Taste has leather, tobacco, salty licorice, dry and astringent hops. Finish is a bit harsh and salty. Too much dry bitterness for a stout.

Barwa: czarna, praktycznie nieprzejrzysta, jedynie z lekko z rubinowymi refleksami. Mocne i konkretne piwo z browaru Fuller’s .

20.07.2014, 0,5l bottle @ holiday house in Ebeltoft:
Nice light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet, sweet licorice, dark malts, dark sugar, dark fruits, coffee, caramel, grass, alcohol, soy sauce. Taste is slightly harsh, dark malts, sour coffee, grass, alcohol, licorice, minerals, bark. Longlasting bitterness, slightly dry harsh mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottle. Pours completely black witha one-finger fast fading tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, sweet and ripe dark friuts, molasses, licorice and soy. Very sweet with a bitter and dry warming aftertaste. Body is surprisingly full and the carbonation soft. I want to like it, but something is missing. It’s good though - just not as good as I’d hoped for.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2014 Dark brown beer with big beige head. Aroma is chocolaty sweet, bready and roasted malty. Flavor is licoricy, roasted and slightly salty. Palate is quite full and soft. Finish has quite strong bitterness with aftertaste of sweet chocolate. Decent but straightforward. No alcohol.
