COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly bottle conditioned; Special. Has been seen on cask.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a very dark amber-brown, almost black, with an average size long-lasting frothy beige or light-brown head. Some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, nuts, light hops, dark fruit and brown sugar. Flavour of roasted malt, leafy hops, alcohol and liquorice -- a tad disappointing, good but not as much as the aroma. Medium bodied. Very good beer.

Rating #1000 - (Bottle) Black - well actually a very very dark reddish brown - with a thin beige head. Initially there was little aroma, mainly liquorice with ash hints, but as it stood the aroma developed nicely with black treacle, coffee, dark chocolate appearing and the ash note receding. Great palate - full bodied, oily, slightly sticky with nice carbonation that is both velvety and slightly prickly. Very rich flavour with a great balance between the distinct sweetness and the darker bitter tastes. The start is dark toffee with hints of dried fruit and cherries. Bitter dark chocolate and very dark roast malt notes develop. The finish is a lingering residual pleasant sweetness balanced with dark chocolate bitterness. Excellent beer.

50 cl systembolaget. Fullers absolut bästa öl. Kul eftersom ESB nog var min första kontakt med öl som smakade.

A black beer with a medium, dense and brown head. The aroma has strong and fresh liquirice with a salt liquirice, coffee, some riped and dried fruits, cherries, hint of vanilla. Just a great aroma. Taste is powerfully, salt liquirice, richness of malts and overally, quite sweet, some roastiness and coffee, dried fruits in the background. Enough of bitterness. Full bodied, low carbonation, quite smooth, not sticky. Fuller’s has been brewed a very intensive monster. Strong salt liquirice, richness of malts and fruity notes. Great beer.

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma of coffee and cream, ash, liquorice, toffee, berries, bitter chocolate. Flavour is medium sweet, toffee, roasted malts, ash, liquorice, coffee and cream, chocolate, light fruity, bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. Great stuff, but why does it have to be so bloody expensive?!

Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - initially elusive then dark chocolate with sweet liquorice. Like black part of allsorts. Taste - more dark chocolate and more sweet liquorice with a coconut note as backdrop. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big creamy texture and a long dry and balanced finish. Overall - i love the crumbly liquorice allsort texture.

Bottle. Thick black motor oil with frothy mocha head. Aroma is coffee, brown sugar, dark fruits, and roasted malts. Taste is light roast, followed by coffee, chocolate, and a hint of cherry, finishes smooth with light bitter roast, full bodied, with medium carbonation. Exceptionally smooth and well rounded, gets better as it warms, very nice stuff.

Pours jet black with limited tan head and minimal lacing. Nose is roasty and some floral. Flavours are espresso, some bitter chocolate, lots of earthy bitterness and a decent amount of flowery notes in there as well. Some dark fruit, maybe cherry. Taste is big sweet and big/med bitter. Medium to full body with an oilyness to the finish and medium carbonation with lasting dry bitterness. Nice beer.

Deep black pour with a thin dark brown head. The aroma is great - rich fudgey aroma with a slightly herbal hop bitterness and a lot of rich sweet chocolate malt flavour. Booze is very well hidden with just a touch of slightly salty character. Lightly fruity and a little bit peppery. A slightly fruity note underneath the cocoa and chocolate. It sneaks up on you but it’s a very lovely beer.
