Mainly bottle conditioned; Special. Has been seen on cask.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

20.07.2014, 0,5l bottle @ holiday house in Ebeltoft:
Nice light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet, sweet licorice, dark malts, dark sugar, dark fruits, coffee, caramel, grass, alcohol, soy sauce. Taste is slightly harsh, dark malts, sour coffee, grass, alcohol, licorice, minerals, bark. Longlasting bitterness, slightly dry harsh mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottle. Pours completely black witha one-finger fast fading tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, sweet and ripe dark friuts, molasses, licorice and soy. Very sweet with a bitter and dry warming aftertaste. Body is surprisingly full and the carbonation soft. I want to like it, but something is missing. Itís good though - just not as good as Iíd hoped for.

Marstonlad (486) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 28, 2014
Bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Pours black with a big brownish white head. The aroma is rich in dark, roasty maltiness: plenty of chocolate, coffee, salty licorice, tar and touch of dark, plummy fruitiness. Taste is initially light sweet, later heavily roasty and dryish. Taste is quite long and nuanced; chocolate and licorice are accompanied by delicate dark fruity notes. Bitterness rises toward finish. The palate is full bodied, a bit sticky and fairly soft in carbonation. Delicious strong, rich ale for late night tasting sessions.

Appearance: Dark brown/black with cm thick tan head. Aroma: Floral, citrus, molasses, umami, fruity, liquorice, treacle, malty. Taste: Low sweetness and sourness with medium bitterness. Palate: Medium thick fairly smooth texture, medium body, average carbonation, dry, lingering slightly bitter, brown sugar, fruity, metallic, treacly, malty finish. Dare I say it there is a subtle note of Turkish delight. Comments: Good and glass lace.

Bottle at Craigís. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of roast, liquorice, dark chocolate. Taste is more of the same. Not getting any rose character. Overall - this is a style I like, by a brewer I like. It just doesnít set the world on fire. If I had to introduce someone to this style this wouldnít be the beer I would choose.
