Nose is rye bread and some sweetness like honey and some coffee. Colour is very dark brown to black with small but nice head. Taste is also very bready with some honey notes and also coffee. Palate leaves rich honey notes and even some caramel notes.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2016 A big, dense light tan head with top to bottom lacing. A near black body. An appealing nose featuring chocolate, cream, roasted caramel malt and a touch of booze. A big molasses, chocolate and dark berry burst leads off the taste profile. Slightly burnt butter, booze, fruity hops, malt, and raisins blend in underneath. A touch of vanilla and coffee round out the blend. Love the roasted elements and they grow and blend along with the butter as the taste grows. Didn’t expect an epic from Fullers!

2016/10/14 - Pours black with a frothy khaki head that slowly reduces and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is rich dark chocolate, roasted toffee, vanilla, hints of molasses, licorice, dried dark fruit (raisin, plumb) and a touch of smoke. Taste is burnt toffee, rich chocolate, roasted malt, anise and hints of dark fruit. Mouthfeel is full and oily with average carbonation and a dry, mildly bitter and slightly warming finish. Complex and rich.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml - cellared for 2 years. Served at room temperature. Pours a deep, dark brown (almost black) with a ruby tint. Head is small, tanned, dense and lasts very well. Aroma is rich and complex; roasted barley, chocolate brownies, raisins, caramelized dates, cherry liquor chocolates, aniseed, treacle, hints of leather, and touch of smoke/charcoal. Flavour is complex and smooth with a medium earthy/roasted hop bitterness; toasted barley, prune paste, dried currants, dark cherry chocolate, milk chocolate bullets, roasted chestnuts, molasses, moist soil, burlap, a touch of smoke, and notes of burnt oak in the finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation, a thick/oily texture and a superbly long/dry finish. Easily the best and most well-rounded imperial stout I have tried so far!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black pour with a fizzy tan head that quickly recedes... plenty of roasted malt, burnt treacle stickiness... relatively thin body, drinks below it’s weight. A bit over carbonated for my tastes, but a cracking beer all the same.
