This limited edition brew is a unique collaboration between brewery and beer writer. Melissa Cole brought her vast experience to the tasting table and helped us deliver a stout worth writing home about.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

Bottled. Pretty much black colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is liquorice, chocolate, coffee, some fudge/toffee notes as well as mild herbal notes. Flavour is sweet liquorice, chocolate, coffee, nutty notes along with some fudge as well as some mild grassy and herbal notes. Hides the alcohol rather nicely. Very tasty.

Bottle 50cl. Black with a light brown head. "Dark" nose, coffee etc. but also a parfumed nkse. Extreme rich beer. This is good stuff. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and there is a lot of it. Long lasting finish. Very nice.

Bottle, pours black and tan. Aroma: chocolate, dark fruit, light booziness. Taste: chocolate, liquorice, dark fruit, cherries . Medium sweet and bitter, slightly salty, full body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Medium long salty and bitter roasty finish with a light booziness. Well balanced, great stuff.

50cl bottle. Pours a pitch black with a little tan head. Aroma has roasty coffee, chocolate, caramel malts, licorice. Taste is roasty bitter with some sweeter malts. Very malty in general with lots of caramel. Great stout, but not very much going on. Full body, low carbonation.

[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a very dark amber-brown, almost black, with an average size long-lasting frothy beige or light-brown head. Some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, nuts, light hops, dark fruit and brown sugar. Flavour of roasted malt, leafy hops, alcohol and liquorice -- a tad disappointing, good but not as much as the aroma. Medium bodied. Very good beer.

Rating #1000 - (Bottle) Black - well actually a very very dark reddish brown - with a thin beige head. Initially there was little aroma, mainly liquorice with ash hints, but as it stood the aroma developed nicely with black treacle, coffee, dark chocolate appearing and the ash note receding. Great palate - full bodied, oily, slightly sticky with nice carbonation that is both velvety and slightly prickly. Very rich flavour with a great balance between the distinct sweetness and the darker bitter tastes. The start is dark toffee with hints of dried fruit and cherries. Bitter dark chocolate and very dark roast malt notes develop. The finish is a lingering residual pleasant sweetness balanced with dark chocolate bitterness. Excellent beer.

50 cl systembolaget. Fullers absolut bästa öl. Kul eftersom ESB nog var min första kontakt med öl som smakade.

A black beer with a medium, dense and brown head. The aroma has strong and fresh liquirice with a salt liquirice, coffee, some riped and dried fruits, cherries, hint of vanilla. Just a great aroma. Taste is powerfully, salt liquirice, richness of malts and overally, quite sweet, some roastiness and coffee, dried fruits in the background. Enough of bitterness. Full bodied, low carbonation, quite smooth, not sticky. Fuller’s has been brewed a very intensive monster. Strong salt liquirice, richness of malts and fruity notes. Great beer.
