Bottle, 500 ml. Pours very dark ruby with a small amount of soapy tan head which doesnít stick around too long. Aroma consists of strong notes of dark malts, slightly burnt wholemeal toast and black coffee, with smaller notes of dark fruits, toffee, molasses and dark chocolate. Edges of wood and earth throughout, but the big note is still that toasty one. Taste is a fine sweet/bitter balance; the caramel, muscovado sugar and molasses square off against the dark roasted malts and black coffee with neither side emerging as a clear victor. Finish is a bit sweeter overall with a lingering beady, cereal-y yeast note. Body approaches full with no watery characteristics whatsoever, while the texture is still relatively thin and lightly carbonated. Somehow quite refreshing, all things considered! More or less the gold standard for what a good porter should be, going some way to living up to itís extremely high regard.

Beer engine pour at Khyber Pass. Was billed as a cask draft but as the dark ruby brown pour was clear under bright light it must be the pasteurized version. Regardless, a great traditional English Porter. Large frothy beige head. Complex subtle notes coming from the dark roasty malts. French coffee and cigars. Leather jacket. Cocoa toffees. Hints of dark stone fruit. Faintly sweet and bitter. Has a remarkably creamy body and dry finish. Feels both effortlessly light and notably substantial.

Very dark brown color, very little head. Roasted coffee aroma. Hops pretty subdued. Fairly light body for a Porter. Very slight oily texture. Moderate carbonation. Finish is moderate in length, some carbonation. Taste has just a tad of sweetness, overall a nice balance. In summary this is a pretty good, though not great beer. I would like to see a bit more complexity.

Poured from can, deep dark brown with low creamy beige head. Aroma is complex and inviting, notes of chocolate, coffee, dark bread and syrup. Taste is bitter sweet with notes of toffee, caramel, dark chocolate and coffee. Nice bitterness in the finish.

Tap @ the Taphouse Sydney. Black with a small creamy head and solid lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate and earthy, nutty coffee. Incredibly complex flavour profile of chocolate and coffee malts interlaced with earthy, bitter hops. A thoroughly English porter. Magnificent beer. The best porter I've had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 500 mL, already knew london pride although not its porter, had to try it, and gotta say, so delighted with the decision. pours on a pint, brown head that lingers for a bit, deep dark, no light passes through, smells strong, hoppy and since there, can expect some complexity, 1st sip is a loud "mmm!" ... enters with some bitter chocolate but quite easy to drink and then some smoke coffee, after it there is a cereal sensation that stays for a moment with its quite balanced bitterness. is the best porter ive drank and may look for more of those. Awesome beer.

djoeye (1691) - TromsÝ, NORWAY - NOV 2, 2014
Black-brown body, beige head, many fields of lacing. Aroma; coffee, dark chocolate, flourish dark hops, cocoa, notes of liquorice, prunes, raisin, fruit peels. Taste; fruity dark chocolate, some hops, cocoa powder, nuts, almond, roasted dark juicy malts all over. Finishes with dark chocolate, coffee notes, flourish hops notes. Good enough body, soft carbonated, no holes. Overall decent porter, I would say. [50cl brown special bottle, abv5.4%, BB06MAR15]
