3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Tom Servo (424) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 26, 2002
Pretty good, but a little lacking in the flavor department. Not a bad brew, but the flavor is a bit too burnt for my tastes. The aroma is nice, but I’ve had better.

Light sweet, light bitter, chocolate, licroice. Bit thinnish. Flavorful, nice but bit sugary and not exceptional. Bottle@Home, Apr 02, 4.1: Roasted, coffee aroma. Dark brown/black, off-white frothy/creamy head, good lacing. Smooth, moderate full, roasted, light sweet. Long, strongly roasted, coffee finish.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 neilrichards (191) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 22, 2002
This rich drink has an initially thick head. Dark colour with a huge chocolate smell. Strong, complex flavours combined with good strength and excellent, lasting finish. Great deep flavours.

I thought this to be a nice full bodied poerter, but lacking of any significant flavor to set it apart from other porters.

Not nearly as good as Samuel Smiths Taddy Porter, this is too smokey and not nearly as silky and smooth as Sammy Smith. That said it is still a good porter, good maltiness and strong flavor.

A good porter, but not one of Fullers better beers. Nice malt and flavor but lacks a finish.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ultraspank (867) - Dublin, Ohio, USA - APR 14, 2002
Had a few bottles of this tonight. This brew pours a dark red brown. The huge rocky
light brown head is fully lasting and leaves fair lacing. The big rich nose is predominately
strong roasted coffee, with hints of caramel, dark chocolate, flowers, grapefruit, spices,
toffee, butterscotch, licorice, cola, and alcohol. The warm flowery flavor is of course heavily
bittersweet (coffee, coffee, and coffee) with a pleasant citrus inspired acidic bite in the
middle. The finish is long, rich and bitter. The full creamy/syrupy body has lively
carbonation and finishes complex - dry, astringent, and alcoholic. Another really nice
porter.

This is the kind of beer I hope
to bring home everytime I venture
out to try a new brew. Smells wonderful,
but more importantly tastes great!!!
This is a multi-faceted flavor. Very layered
and complex. Wonderful.

Great from the first to last drop.
I reallyd don’t have anything to add to what has been said, fully agree with chocolate/caramel/capucino notes in the beer though, malty, tremendously smooth and complex, you can point out several different tastes after holding it in your mouth a few seconds, with a quick slurp it is slightly roasty in mid palate into a malty smooth capucino taste. Best part is the finish.
Best slightly chilled.

The deep-colored body resembles worcestershire sauce. Head diminishes rather quickly. Lovely, subtle coffee and chocolate flavors, with a proper amount of hoppy dryness in the finish. As it warmed, the flavor profile changed significantly, towards a sharp bitterness. I prefer this one a bit cooler than most porters, where the full body of the malt is most prominent.
