Pours a beautiful, almost opaque, dark mahogany with a tan head that clings to the glass with some nice lacing. Malty, roasted aroma with hints of coffee. Smooth, full mouthfeel, almost chewy. Flavors of roasted malts and coffee, fulfilling the promise of the aroma. Finish is refreshingly dry, with a lingering mild bitterness. Beautifully balanced, just a wonderful and classic porter.

There was an air of overwhelming when i saw this in sainsburies, being rated as the best beer in britain, is a high status to have. (actually i stand corrected not the best beer in britian). Aroma is smoked and roasted malt, with coffee and pale malt notes. Taste is very similar with a roasted long finish, drish too. Well to say im disapointed may be about right, this is a decent beer, but it lacks complexity, yeasiness and a good few other things that need to be had to make a good beer in my eyes.

A Mes rate: Aroma of choclate milk and coffee with some slight vanilla. Almost black in the body with a rocky light brown head that lasts a little better than most of the other Fullerís I have tried. Flavour is roasty chocolate malts and more coffee. Very creamy and drinkable. Well balanced but not overly complex but hey, it is pretty fine stuff.

A great malty porter with a roasty smokey flavor. Good head with a deep dark brown color. Has a coffee/toffee flavor nice explosion of the malts. Smooth creamy feel this was a great porter and loved the aftertaste.

Poured from the bottle, a dark red black with a large rocky head. The aroma is strongly caramal, though the flavour is most definitely chocolate (I enjoy the difference). Oh so smooth in the mouth. I can see why this is rated so highly.

12 oz bottle. Thanks to Slob for setting me up with this guy. Pours a very dark ruby, almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, and soft floral hops. Flavors of dark molasses, chocolate, coffee, and hops Some oxidation present, with some of the hop bitterness a little downplayed, almost 1 year past the best before date. Finish is all chocolate with some light hoppiness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation, and oily. A really nice English style porter.

Bottle. Dark brown/black look, a very malty and hoppy flavor, which reminds one of coffee and cream.
