Pours medium brown with coating of film. Lots of roasted grain, nuts and coffee in the aroma. Flavor is all nuts, mostly almond though. Bet a shot of Amaretto would be nice in this. Nice body and mouthfeel.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2005 Bottle (500ml). Regular stock at LCBO in Ontario (Yay!). Looking forward to having this on cask when in UK next. Pours black, strong roast flavour, enough hops to balance off, slightly bitter aftertaste, but it works. Classic standard porter. I always have a few on-hand.

I had this on tap. A black, opaque brew with a strong burned grain flavor with a nice hop aftertaste

Poured a deep brown, almost black with a well-retained 1/2" creamy white head. Very pretty pour. Aroma consisted of primarily roasted malts, with chocolate, coffee, toffee, and halzenut present. Flavor followed the aroma, and those flavors coated the mouth very well. Smooth sustained coffee finish.

Bottle. Pours dark, dark reddish brown and opaque until held to light. Gives rise to a thick tan head that diminishes leisurely and leaves some lacing. Sweet, dark malt aroma with dark brown sugar and molasses dominating the nose among hints of coffee and chocolate. Sweet, roasty flavor, milky smooth with cocoa, coffee and prominent hops in the finish. Full body, initially flat on the tongue with a late rising creamy carbonation. This is indeed a fine Porter.

Bottle: Coffee black, medium beige head, frothy, dies quickly, quite nice lacing. † Coffee nose, burnt malts, subtle earthiness. † Smooth, yet subtle, coffee and roasted malt blend. † Slightly sweet lactose like tinge as well. † Moderate body and mouthfeel. † Clean finish, very smooth, soft chocolate notes on a bed of coffee and burnt malts. † Very tasty!

More of a sweet stout than a porter to me. Pours a dark Brown, small white head. Aroma is sweet, of caramel and toffee, some coffee in there as well. Flavor is roasted coffee, chocolate and almonds, very smooth.

Thanks Chuck! Pours to a fairly dark brown color. With an off-white head that laces pretty well. The aroma is VERY nice. Dry roasted malts. Coffee, light chocolate. The palate is very creamy and dry. Light bitterness. The flavor is chocolately, coffee, grassy hops, really tasty. More porters should strive to be like this one. Thereís a bit of lactose type sweetness to this one. I like this one a lot. Very good roastyness. The palate is very well balance to the flavor. I could drink this a lot!
