May 25, 2008 Bottle at home... Nice Deep red ... big foam head ... Deep roast malt nose ... Nice good roast base ... some chocolate ... quite dry and and bitter ...Decent enough ... but not as nice as the cask... It puzzles me that the bottle scores higher than the cask.

May 24, 2008 The Porter. Great aroma of chocolate, caramel, coffee, bread, cake... Just huge. Not for hop heads. Light body and low ABV make this a session alternative to most impy stouts.

May 24, 2008 Tasted 24/05/2008. Magic nose, reminding me of the dark Orkney beers - very dark chocolate with a little whiff of dark and vinous fruit. Toasty biscuity malt weighs in nicely behind - tending towards burnt. Superbly integrated in the mouth. Fruity, biscuity, high % cocoa chocolate... like a nice coffee, from the place at the bottom of The Terrace in Wellington... and then there’s more a lingering slightly burnt toast in behind. Hops barely make an appearance, they’re just supporting in behind with a little bitterness. Perfect weight and carbonation. Drinks easily, like a beer a full percent lower. Special.

May 23, 2008 Dark brown with nice lasting beige head. Very chocolate aroma. Nice medium to full body with lots of chocolate a little coffee. Best porter I’ve had.

May 21, 2008 Pours a very dark body, almost black colour with a full dark brown head. very smooth in the mouth, and creamy. the aroma was very alcohol scented, and sort of tasted like whiskey in the finish.

May 20, 2008 tap, poured a dark brown color, with a creamy khaki head. The aroma was awesome with some roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Had a great creamy balance on the palate and a perfect finish. This is a great porter.

May 18, 2008 A delicious porter, if not my favorite. Wonderful balance of roasted chocolate, smooth creamy caramel. Very complex and deep flavors, roastedness is not overpowering, but mingles with slight bitterness and rich smooth chocolate. A wonderfully balanced and executed porter.
