MaltOMeal (642), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 Updated: Jul 26, 2008bottle. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Smell was of roasted malts, espresso and even some smokiness. Taste was of coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel was medium-to-thin and a little watery but similar to other porters in that regard. This was a very flavorful porter, similar to an impy stout except for the mouthfeel. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a light tan head and has excellent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and a hint of caramel. Flavor was creamy and satisfying with coffee, slight chocolate, roasted sweetness and a touch of smokiness medium bodied with a dry and tasty finish donteatpoop (124), Youngstown, Ohio, USA May 1, 2008 Great beer.
Poured a chocolate brown color with a small creamy tan head.
The smell was very enticing, coffee grounds and chocolate. My mouth was watering in anticipation.
My mouth was not disappointed. The chocolate and coffee blended beautifully on my tongue. Holy crap, it’s like my tongue just had an orgasm.
It had a nice full mouth feel, as I’d expect from a porter, but the carbonation level seemed a bit high to me - jabbing at my tongue with sharp little bubbles.
Great beer. Wait, did I say that already? Well it’s true. Definately something I’ll be drinking again and again.

blipp (1631), Newark, New Jersey, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is a mix of sweet and roasted malt with notes of caramel and milk chocolate. Medium, smooth body. Flavor is again, sweet and roasted, but also has a smoky quality. Notes of nuts, caramel, and semi-sweet chocolate. I like the subtleness in the flavor, it makes it very easy to drink. But at the same time it has just enough complexity to hold your attention and keep you searching for more. lucke13 (90), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Apr 29, 2008 Dark black pour with quickly falling tan head. Pure coffee in the nose...maybe some chocolate. Coffe on the tounge too, but not quite so much as the aroma suggested. Fairly bitter, more like a stout. Thick in the mouth with a long bitter aftertaste. A decent beer, but I’m not too fond of the style. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Apr 28, 2008 bottle BB9/16/8 by way of pforei. medium brown color with ruby at the edges topped by a light tan head. aromas of chocolate, cream, light coffee, toasted walnuts, a little wood and near metallic maltiness (the metal aspect disappears as it warms). the flavor is near perfect for a porter (at least a british one!)... coffee, cream, chocolate, wood, light skunky hops, mildly bitter roast and a slight ashiness on the finish. it’s not overly sour and leaves a creamy coffee aftertaste. medium to full body with soft carbonation which gives it a creamy texture. the flavor gets a lot better as it nears room temperature but the mouth feel suffers... TheCaptain (526), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2008 Another sampler from afire, thanks bud. Poured dark-coffee like with a medium head, nice mellow carbonation through the taste. Chocolate and coffee aromas mix into a malty and slight bitter pallet. Although it has a distinctive character and body it lacks that certain something, rich yet a little week towards the end. All in all well balanced but not the punch I hoped for. Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland Apr 26, 2008 Rating #400. Aroma has coffee and roasted malts. Nice dark brown colour with a small tan head. Flavour has roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Excellent porter!
