Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Feb 14, 2008 Very drinkable beer. Color is a near black. It was thinner than I expected but held its flavor well. This was of roasted malt and some slight chocolate. The hops peek through to enhance this nice brew. slimchill (775), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 13, 2008 Draught. Nose is smoke and chocolate. Deep black color with a thin creme-colored head. Robust and flavorful, lots of chocolate malt character. Very smooth and drinkable. gmonroe10 (172), Netherlands Feb 13, 2008 A full pour, dark brown and tan solid head..aroma of chocolate malts, some yeast, and faint fruit tones. Low carbonated, and extremely smooth and creamy...slightly bitter on the aftertaste, but very pleasant. However, tastes a bit light as well for a porter without the richness of many other porters i’ve tried. I would prefer it with a little more weight..but that being said, still great.
davidpl (435), Santiago, Chile Feb 10, 2008 Appearance: dark brown color with reddish tones. Great head with beige color, dense and very lasting.
Aroma: toast and sweet from malts. Bread’s smells reminiscences from yeast. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, cream and vanilla smells reminiscences. Too, aromatic fruitiness likes figs, raisins and blackberries.
Flavor: toast-malts start with medium insensitive and very lasting. Pleasant touch of bitter-chocolate, coffee grains, caramel, toast-bread, truffles, cream and some wood. Fruitiness similar to nuts and toast-hazelnuts; like also to ripe-fruits like blackberries and figs. Dry final with Fuggles-hop’s taste, but the mainly dryness come from toast. Slight metallic touch. Toast aftertaste.
Palate: medium body with an exquisite smooth and silky texture. Low carbonated.
Good balance, pleasant and lasting toast, nice bitter-chocolate taste. An exquisite beer.
travita (1867), Frisco, Texas, USA Feb 10, 2008 One of my favorite beers to just sit down and down a six pack of either alone or with some friends. Brown color with a nice head. Malty aromas that are very inviting. Taste is a malt balance that has chocolate and roasted characters in it. Overall a very good beer. masto (77), Helsinki, Finland Feb 9, 2008 Smoky liquorice aroma. Dark reddish brown with disappearing head.
Tastes of liquorice, roasted color malt and most importantly, almost no sweetness. Incredibly well balanced but not that rich. 100208 Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Feb 9, 2008 Pours a dark brown/black color with a light tan head. Mild roasted aroma, light chocolate flavor with a strong roast presence. I like this one cause its not too sweet like too many other porters being made these days. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Feb 7, 2008 I DID not find the brew to be very rich. the beer is barley in flavor with light flavors of chocolate. it is toasted and mild and malty. the beer has a moderate body and a coating yet overall clean finish. while it is well balanced i did not find it substantial. refreshing and soft and overall good beer it is mildly bitter.
