Commercial Description:
Bottled and (in USA) kegged - pasteurised.
Fuller’s London Porter captures the flavours of those original brews perfectly, although you won’t find a cloudy pint these days! Rich, dark and complex, at 5.4% ABV the beer has an outstanding depth of flavour.
It is brewed from a blend of Brown, Crystal and Chocolate malts for a creamy delivery balanced by traditional Fuggles hops. The range of flavours works well with a wide variety of foods, ranging from rich meat dishes, to oysters, and even chocolate puddings.

Appearance: dark brown color with reddish tones. Great head with beige color, dense and very lasting. Aroma: toast and sweet from malts. Bread’s smells reminiscences from yeast. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, cream and vanilla smells reminiscences. Too, aromatic fruitiness likes figs, raisins and blackberries. Flavor: toast-malts start with medium insensitive and very lasting. Pleasant touch of bitter-chocolate, coffee grains, caramel, toast-bread, truffles, cream and some wood. Fruitiness similar to nuts and toast-hazelnuts; like also to ripe-fruits like blackberries and figs. Dry final with Fuggles-hop’s taste, but the mainly dryness come from toast. Slight metallic touch. Toast aftertaste. Palate: medium body with an exquisite smooth and silky texture. Low carbonated. Good balance, pleasant and lasting toast, nice bitter-chocolate taste. An exquisite beer.

One of my favorite beers to just sit down and down a six pack of either alone or with some friends. Brown color with a nice head. Malty aromas that are very inviting. Taste is a malt balance that has chocolate and roasted characters in it. Overall a very good beer.

Smoky liquorice aroma. Dark reddish brown with disappearing head. Tastes of liquorice, roasted color malt and most importantly, almost no sweetness. Incredibly well balanced but not that rich. 100208

Pours a dark brown/black color with a light tan head. Mild roasted aroma, light chocolate flavor with a strong roast presence. I like this one cause its not too sweet like too many other porters being made these days.

I DID not find the brew to be very rich. the beer is barley in flavor with light flavors of chocolate. it is toasted and mild and malty. the beer has a moderate body and a coating yet overall clean finish. while it is well balanced i did not find it substantial. refreshing and soft and overall good beer it is mildly bitter.

Bottle. Pours a rich-looking near-black color with a persistent tan head. Mild overall aroma, light hints of sweet roast and malt, slight suggestion of chocolate. Much more chocolate on the taste. Velvet mouthfeel. The taste is a subtle balance of sweetness, toastiness, and rich malts. I’ll be returning to this one.
